Bed Lights

The one thing that I really dont like about my truck is that there are no bed lights, Like the light that F-150s have ont he taillight that lights up the bed. What would be the best mod to get light back there? I was thinking maybe putting small white neon light rods under the bed rails. What do you guys think?

The easy way is to get a cargo light CHMSL for a 2002-back Ranger XLT, wire it up and bolt it on.

we just got a new 07 F250 at work, and the 3rd brake light looks brand new, well it is, but it looks better than ours....it looks like it will fit but im not 100% sure. If it does, i will take mine off and swap it someday

Anyone know if it does?

i used two 'Dot-it's by sylvania. they had a 3m sticker on the back so u can stickem almost anywhere, i put two in my bed facing forward on that piller that the tailgate covers(vertical pillars) their 3 legs on a lil battery, rated for 10,000hrs, they will work in super hot weather or super cold, so these are perfect, u forget to turn em off u get a lil dead battery not a truck dead battery, their small no wiring needed! $10eahc from autozone, they come in alot of colors too, and they look like a small hockey puck

Recon is making running lights to fit inside the bed of a truck for the reason of darkness. They should be on Underdog-Performance.com within a month. There's a thread about them here

Ive Put in LEDs

I went on Ebay and ordered 50 red LEDs and HotGlued them under the rails and wired the lights to the tailights and once i figured the basics out it was rather simple. And i must say, they REALLY light up the bed of my truck. I have gotten plenty of compliments on them. The whole project cost me like 15 bucks, 12$ for the lights and 3$ for the glue sticks to go in the gun. GoodLuck.

Rocky

yes it will fit

also i belive on the newer ranger they don't have the cargo lights, and they aren't even wired for them either

hey doti, do you have pics of your setup? i'm looking for something that will light up part of the bed since i have the factory tonneau, and its pretty dark in the back half, but the cargo lights light up the half front just fine

I went to walmart and bought a pair of $15 fog lights and placed them on the inside of the lid of my tool box, then ran the power from the battery. It lights up my bed plus another 10-15 yards behind my truck.

I bolted on A fog light to the back of my Light bar, for backing up in the dark and accessing the back of my truck at night.

Once you get the 3rd brake light that has the 3-bulb harness, you only have to run one wire from the dome light to the brake light. It's really easy.

I had 3 of them for sale a few months ago, but they're all sold now.
