Bumper Ideas! 2005 Ranger

Hi! I have a 2005 XLT Ranger 4x4 4.0 V6, I currently have a stock bumper(Plastic with chrome trim on top) and I have a few issues:
1)It's plastic, flimsy, and annoying
2)The old owner cut the suppots on the bottom to tow it on a trailer
3)I went on a wheeling trip up Wildcat Mountain and went onto a bank and it got caught on the underside by a rock and cracked it in 2 places

Basically I was curious if anyone thought I should buy a new stock one off Ebay, or build one. My only concerns is what would a built one look like on a stock Ranger...
Also! I was curious if I could buy a kind of metal one thats stock, and where to buy it.
Need feedback!
Thanks!

I'm all for custom bumpers. If you can do it go for it. Otherwise the 98-00 have a steel bumper that is bigger then the 05's. And you talking about the valance not the bumper. All bumpers are steel.

I can do it, but only problems there are is it worth 300$ for a custom bumper, or a stock new one. And if I can buy a older bumper from like the 2000-2004 where it color matches my metallic grey that would be tight. And I have no idea where to buy one

You can color match any bumper. Looks on ebay, craigslist, certifit, rockauto, tascaparts.

I've looked. But what I'm trying to say is do you think it would look alright to have a built bumper on a stock ranger, I've heard that they don't look good and sometimes they do

Thats a sick bumper! Yeah I just talked with my buddy who owns a off road shop and he said building a bumper like yours with labor and such could cost around 300-400. I definitely like the bumper, totally jealous.

That isn't my truck.

Oh, whoops.

You can buy them for like $600 online.

WildcatRange 01-24-2012 05:53 PM

600? Dang. Well not too sure, I heard you can make one for 300

But I looks so much nicer than anything you can "home make." You get what you pay for.

Definitely, what sites sell them?
