Tach or No Tach

I have 388,000 miles on this pickup and it's running great. I want to put a tach in it, it drives me nuts that it doesn't have one. But to replace the gauge cluster would change the miles on the odometer. I'm proud that it has so many miles.

I'm guessing you can't put the speedometer from the old cluster to the new? I did on my 94 ranger, slightly different color, but it worked.

At 388,000 miles I'd leave it... I wouldn't change a thing if it's working! lol

why not swap your odo into the new gauge cluster, so you have your proof of mileage and a tach...

With that many miles just leave it as is.

get a small tach that mounts to the steering column or a single pod on the pillar.

I have upgraded my dash twice, once to add a tach (from another Ranger), the second time to add white face gauges (from an Explorer Sport). I switched my odometer both times to keep the original mileage.

It is a simple switch, all you have to do is mark the speedo needle on the back before removing so that you can put it back in the exact same spot without messing up the mph/kph. Since it is a simple plug and play, I say transfer your original odometer to keep the mileage.
