Don't mess with the cats at all they are already high flow and you will not see any gain.

Correct. Remove the last cat as long as it is AFTER your last 02 sensor.

I removed both of my cat's and installed one magnaflow highflow cat and had no issue after adding a de-fouler to the after cat 02 sensor. You can probably remove all your cats if you are going to run a de-fouler.

putting on the single Magnaflow high flow made a HUGE difference in sound output.

Do it if you want it to be loud. Just removing the 5th cat wont do alot. Removing them all WILL.

it replaces ALL your cats. Gotta have an exhaust shop fab it up if you cant. It will replace your Y pipe

Hey guys,

I have an '09 2.3 with California emissions
Is there an advantage to changing to 49 state cat?
The rig lives in WA now, wondered if the change would gain any hp or tq
Also thinking of removing the 2nd cat, no testing done here.

Thanks for any help
Richard

Save your money . Rangers come stock with high flow cats so you won't see any difference.
If you need more rear wheel hp or tq re-gear the rear end .

Thanks for the info,
It has 4:10's now
The plan is to upgrade the stock to 2 1/4" stainless steel Flowmaster resonator & 50 series deltaflow + a Magnaflow rear pipe
Also considering a MSDS ceramic coated header for reduced #'s & underhood heat, quicker cat light off and maybe a few more hp & tq
