Additives like lucas fuel system cleaner does not do ****. I am a mechanic, not a know it all, I see this **** everyday. The best way to get decent fuel economy and performance is proper maintenance. PERIOD

replaced : battery ,belt ,brakes ,shocks, u-joints, changed tranny fluid {ts manual 5 spd} plugs/wires/pcv valve throttle position sensor (twice auto zone sold me a cheap knock off) 4 radiator coolant changes and full synthetic oil changes for a 200,000 mile truck thats not bad it doesnt smoke period! ive found useing ceramic brakes wont chew up the rotors like semi metallic pads do, these 4 cylinders are KNOWN FOR ENGINE KNOCK UPON A LOAD ive owned 4 of these they all rattle on a steep hill so i add a additive and it eliminates it
your also a dumb$hit for buying a tornado thinking it would help your milage! why are you asking for tips to get better mileage and then in the next breath tell us how you get the best on the site? go do another burnout with your tires at 40 psi and take pics, that'll save you alotta gas!

I have a 4.0L 4x4 Automatic. Daily Driver, I do about 20 miles through village roads and 40 miles of highway everyday. I get 320 Miles until my gas light comes on, and its around 16 gallons to fill it at that point. This equates to roughly 19 miles per gallon (conservatively) I have seen as high as 21 and as low as 18.5 with this driving. Winter/City driving I typically get around 17 mpg.

I have the K&N CAI and almost everyone on here says that doesn't work, I use synthetic oil regularly, and I keep my tires at 35 psi. I do not monitor my driving in terms of speed or acceleration to accomodate gas savings.

Advice for you Shannon, don't takl about mpg's here (ranger-forums.com). 90% of the population is very bitter about it because honestly, this is a performance site. The guys here drive like crazy on and off road (not that that is bad). So when people come on claiming that they can save gas, regardless of motives (money/environment), they are met with hostility. I have combatted it a little bit trying to add tidbits about the science behind CERTAIN gas saving modifcations but the truth is that few people here WANT to save gas. Most are content with the 10-15 mpg and get nasty when someone suggests a way to get higher numbers because it often means driving slower, less aggressive tires, and removing many of the beloved mods.

Two completely different schools of thought. However it would be great if people could keep the negativity out. I don't see Shannon making an garbage posts, cluttering up the v-8 page, or the lift pages. Mutual respect guys.

Whoa Don, there is no reason to call out the entire site like that. I always want to save gas. My 4.0L 4x4 auto gets around 20-21 mpg. I drive very conservatively

I really don't think this is a performance site, there is plenty of people wanting to save gas, most people just aren't realistic

Think before you call everyone out

Not calling everyone out. Atleast that wasn't the intent. Just drawing attention to the fact that the ranger is versatile, it can be lifted, lowered, a gas saver, or an aggressive off-road vehicle. However, it can't be both an aggressive off-roader AND a gas saver. Like you said, you have to be content with what you are getting. If you want to off-road, you accept lower mpg's. Hell, we all drive trucks, if we wanted stupid high mpg's, we would have bought cars.

I don't like to see people tear other guys apart though for trying gas saving techniques. I agree something like the Tornado, no way that works. However someone had to try it to find out. So when someone gets on and says 'hey I want to try this to save gas...' people always jump on him about how it won't work and everything is snake-oil. You never see that in the other pages about swamping in diesels or V-8's, only in the mpg threads.

No hard feelings Justin, or the rest of the site, I am here because I enjoy it.

I tuned the target air to fuel ratio to (negative) -14.7 instead of +14.7 so that it actually adds 1 part fuel for every 14.7 parts of air used. I then sell the gas to my friends and make lots of money!

Performance is not just how much HP you have... your "maro" may have 445 HP, but I kinda doubt it can go in as deep of mud as my truck can with all of 154 HP. lol

No.... "hangin a curve" didn't offend me... i guess it's since I don't have 31", 32" or 33" tires... 35's FTW!

BTW: You don't have to scream.... lol

WHAT ARE YOU ****ING RETARDED? DONT EVEN ANSWER IT BECAUSE YOU ARE. YOU NEED TO TAKE YOUR LITTLE HILLBILLY *** BACK TO THE WALMART PARKING LOT AND ACT COOL THERE BECAUSE NO ONES INPRESSED WITH YOUR LITTLE STORY YOU AND YOUR UNCLE JIMBO THOUGHT OF. YOU CAN BUY SOME MORE MARVEL MYSTERY OIL AND A KEYBOARD WITH A WORKING CAPS LOCK BUTTON THERE TOO AND MAYBE HIT UP THE LOCAL 9TH GRADE CHEMISTRY CLASS WHILE YOU'RE AT IT SO YOU CAN LEARN A THING OR TWO. DO THE WORLD A FAVOR AND DRINK THE MARVEL MYSTERY OIL INSTEAD, YOULL BE ABLE TO TYPE IN EVER BIGGER BOLDER CAPS AND THINK OF EVEN COOLER STORIES.

I FOUND YOUR MARO TOO, I BET ALL YOUR COUSINS THROW THEIR PANTIES IN THAT BAD BOY AS YOU DRIVE BY GETTING OVER 9000MPG

It feels good to have a thick skin. No worries , no concerns. Able to shrug off the opinions of others.

arguing with you is like competing in the special olympics, even if you win, you still just beat a ra-tard...

btw, your truck looks like a useless POS.
