I am thinking about a turbo for my ranger where do you find a kit to do a six cylinder or better yet one specific for the 04 ranger 4.0?

You would have to go STS turbo if you wanted to do this. I know its been done on a 5.0L V8 explorer.. its so sexy.

Sts would go remote mount for you so wheeling might be an issue.

Or you can look all over and try to find a manifold or a custom manifold. Then good luck with fueling, tuning and all the other lovely turbo things.. better off motor swapping to a 2.3L turob hehe.

Well your gonna have to go to a bigger motor or a s/c.. which is alot of money for what you get..

2.3l turbo would make a great drag or track truck

Use a V8 or I4 to make good power. You will only get so with with the 4.0 and then you will start having major issues. The 4.0 engines can't handle that much boost anyway.

power-adders are not the way to go for towing... you just need a bigger truck

Its prob the rpcaster kit or something. Superchargers on rangers are really pretty expensive for what you get.

Your better off with a V8 they have so many options for upgrading.

Our transmissions fail under boost if I am correct in reading that they really cant handle it like they should be able.

Call me on it but I remember reading it.

The auto will take it but the manual is a weak POS. Some guys run it just fine but I wouldn't do it. Also the tow rating is only 3100 LBS for a manual 4.0 4wd.

Intake, headers and exhaust would only net you about 15-20 hp on a good day. Pacesetter headers are crap anyway.
