Heated mirrors

2007 Level II and I wish it had heated mirrors. Did any rangers come with that option? If not, Ford really dropped the ball cause I think my '95 exploder had heated mirrors. Has anyone had any luck with making it happen in a Ranger?

It's something I've kind of been thinking about for a while, that I haven't had time to research on how they work.

I've never seen a Ranger with them. Is it a huge task for you clearing ice off them?

Take the mirrors off an aviator or a navigator (i forget which one is the same size) and wire em' up. Now you have heated and signals.

I haven't had ice build up while driving but fogging and anytime the truck sits the mirrors will be the first place to ice up and it's a pain to scrape them without messing up the adjustment.

I didn't find anything that would be a bolt on replacement so I was looking at the muth mirror replacement of glass + h-mod switch timer

Many times I've been driving and the mirrors had either fogged or frozen with snow and rain and wished I had them. What sort of regulator is involved with them, if any. If all it would take is wiring them into a switch and relay then it wouldn't be to bad of an idea.

I looked at the muth website, from what i saw all they offer is the previous body style mirrors(up to '05). I've found a couple of recent posts by other people on some other ranger forums... there is a demand for them, so if anyone wants to do the work and market a solution, be my guest:)

ive also read that the explorer side mirrors dont attach/match up to the ranger... i dont yet know if there is any truth to this, but something i am going to "explore" haha.

Muth shows on their site in the link I posted first two products are for 2006-2010 mirror style

http://www.muthco.com/products/vehic...&submit=Search

HEATED KIT - 220-0309-H
2006-2010 - Ford Ranger

Very interesting when you look at the instructions for that style mirror they also show 2006-2010 Explorer and Mountaineer. Pretty sure the mirror from them doesn't fit but if the glass is the same it could make for a cheaper junkyard upgrade all be it delicate to swap the glass only.

No prob and posting that might have given an option I didn't see before. Would be very cool if the merc/explorer glass matches because they have heated/signal from factory so could make for a cheap upgrade.... here's hoping
