Swap for F-150 front diff?

I could be totally off on this one, but i was thinking.....Since after lifting, and running larger tires, 35"+, the d35 in our ranger tends to be a weak point. Now i had 'heard' that the front diff in newer f-150s is a reversed 8.8. If this is true, would it be possible to swap the 2 and keep your IFS? If done correctly, you would have a MUCH stronger front end and even could run larger tires.

Just a thought, i want to see what you other guys have to say..

anything can be done! DO IT! and with the f150 control arms, you will prob get a wider stance also!
but with a cradle lift.. the drop brackets may be too wide for the ranger frame, but those are easilsy made if you have the tools and know how

i dont think it can be done. i mean it could be but it would be alot more hassle than a SAS.

i dont really think that is the weak point.

I think the balljoints, wheel bearings and steering are the weak points.

ha, its a hell of alot stronger than whats under there right now!

8.8 is supposidly stronger than a d44.

The Ranger IFS holds a d35...

Do the math..

Well if this swap was done, im sure custom length CVs would have to be made.

But then again, all that work and you still have IFS? forget it..
