How about the Ranger Lariat?

How about the Ranger Lariat?
My wife and I have been looking at the Eddie Bauer Expedition (or, we were were until $3.00 / gal). I've always liked the tan accents on the Eddie Bauer stuff. So, I'm going to try the Tan exterior pieces on the Ranger. Right now I'm looking for a 4x4 chrome front bumper, chrome grille surround and a chrome rear bumper. I plan to order the DJ Hole-Y grille late next week. Once that stuff comes in I'll be taking the front valance and the wheel well covers to the body shop to be squirted in Arizona Beige. I'm hoping to have it done by November (knock on wood and hope to hell we don't hit $4.00 / gal before then). The only part I'm stuck on right now are the side pieces. I don't want the big fat ones that come with the F-150 Lariat, instead I'd like the smaller ones like you see on the older Eddie Bauer Expeditions. Worst case scenario, I'll either do without the side pieces or squirt the door sill if I can't find what I need in the junkyard (Haven't yet decided). It looks kinda cool on the Lariat F-150's, so I'm pretty sure it won't look awful on the Ranger.
This probably isn't very EXTREME, but I haven't seen it before (if it's been done, my apologies). Here's a quick chop (taken from the stock Ford Edge photos) to see what it would look like...
Pretty freakin extreme:
Really not that extreme:
I'm going to do this regardless of the response, just because I want to see it in real life and I don't think many people (if any) have done it. But I'm curious what y'all think..
Cheers,
Spencer

I think it is a great idea, but here is my .02.
the problem i see with it is your truck. the cost of the extra parts to get your truck to have th exterior look of the lariat/ eddie bauers and the plush interior of both will be a few grand. Now the truck you are putting them on is really kind of mid line for the ranger. 3.0, reg cab, 2wd. Now your truck is fine it suites your needs and it sound liek you love it, but you don't want to "pimp a ride" that will look good but have no performance.
If you are really set on the idea though you could make it a well rounded truck if you were to have a wippple SC added, a rear locker and maybe some 31's or 33's. this way you would have performance to match the appearance.

I'm not trying to make the whole truck an Eddie Bauer so the cost is really minimal:
4x4 Chrome Bumper
Chrome grille surround
DJ grille
Chrome rear bumper
Paint lower valance / wheel well covers.
I just want to clean up the exterior a bit. I'm not doing the Leather seats and all that - it would make no sense in my truck. My interior is already black and tan - the only interior mod I'm doing is tan carpet which should be here anyday now. Other than that, I'm quite happy with the interior. I just didn't want to have the same old black truck that everyone else has. I do plan on a 3" spindle and 31's at some point but I'm going to do this first (it has to get me to work everyday so I'm not going to be kicking the crap out of it offroad). I didn't buy this truck for hardcore performance, I was just looking for a fun daily driver.

my only change would be to carry the paint up to the mid-door character line, instead of the bottom of the door. that will balance out with the front of the truck better. Of course then you also have to paint the bottom lip of the tailgate. (detail often missed on 2-tone paint jobs: if you want it to look REALLY classy, also have them spray the area between the bumper and the tailgate; they don't do it from the factory and the paint color from the top of the truck sticks out like a sore thumb!)
It would be neat to also get some junkyard Eddie Bauer Badges, but its going to be hard to match the accoutrements of the Eddie Bauer interior; leather (pleather?) seats and a woodgrain kit are the bare minimum.
Edit, just read your last post re: interior.
The gold paint will make your tan interior look alot more at home. The pleather seat covers I have were only slightly more than $100 on EBay, and they have a pattern for the 04+ seats as well. Made by Iggee. They sure cut down on the wear on the stock fabric, too. My only complaint is that theres one spot where and extra hook/strap would have made the seat cover fit alot tighter. I may actually have my GF sew one on in that location so it sits tighter.

Lariat never did anything for me, and the king ranch is nice and all but for the money they want I can'y justify it. I would rather have the good old plastic floor and cloth seats. The only all leathered up truck that really appeals to me is the harley trucks, and still for the money i can really see it. The older harley trucks then they were the crew cab 150's with the lightning motor under the hood, oh yeah that would be my second best favorite truck of all time next to a lightning.
