Looking into some reverse fog lights....
 

Well i did some rewiring and all with my tail lights, and i want some more light when im going in reverse. plus ive seen some trucks with the fog lights on the rear bumper and i like the look.

Well i went shopping around today, and i could not find any good fog lights that would look good on my bumper, just driving lights....they were either too big, or had that ugly blue tint or whatever and i dont want that euroish look on my truck.so my question is, what is the difference between fog and driving lights? would you recommend putting the driving lights instead of fogs on the rear bumper? they are only going to be used for going in reverse, maybe later ill wire to a switch to mess with people behind me :P. But im only liking the driving lights because they are the right shape. i want them to be rectangle, more or less like the pic below

Driving lights work just fine. That's what I was running on mine.

Maybe do one of those LED light bars between the tailgate and bumper, that are usually used for extra brake light, except wire it up to your reverse lights. Don't know how well they project and if it would help, but would be more hidden and wouldn't have to worry about cutting into your bumper or having lights hanging down. Just a thought. It'd be something different at least.

Or the driving lights on the hitch, that actually looks alright, haha.

Check with Silverstreak on here. He recently did them to his truck and they look really nice. I think I will do the same in the future.

I'd just go to Wal-Mart and get set of cheapo small square 55w clear fog lights and bolt 'em under the rear bumper.

The difference between fogs and driving lights is the way the light is output.
Fogs put out a low wide beam, driving lights put out a longer skinnier beam.
This is a rough idea of what I mean. Fog lights can be both amber and white, it's the output that's the difference.

Now for backup lights, I personally would use driving lights.

I bought the back up/flood lights from KC. Didnt like the output from the flood lens, so I replaced the, with some fog lenses. output is 100% better, the light goes past my field of view in my side mirrors. I got the switch kit as well...so they turn on with the switch or with reverse.

IMO I wouldnt use driving beams as back up lights. I mean honestly how far behind you do you need to see. 20-30 ft is more than enough. I got

ive got little cheap auto zone lights on my bumper for my reverse its on a switch also though so i can turn them on when id like..i will get a picture of them on tonight they light up plenty of area!

Now i just have to decide where to put them.....my pipes hang low because of the stupid body lift. Now i wish i never did it tbh. should have just went suspension. What do you guys think, where should i put the lights?(old pic, no more spare tire)

i attached mine to the bumper bracket. its only temporary as I am saving for tube bumpers...

your exhaust is an easy fix to move it up....





but good thread i want some too. I have been looking at the line of fires with the while led back up lights built in with the turn signals and brake lights and back up lights.

Hmmm my Dad always said that the best backup lights were from the volkswagen Vans, I have a few sets and im going to try mounting them up on my truck.

I went with these. got em cheap at a hardware store. I agree go with the fog style, gives more light to the side. I have them wired to a toggle so I can use them for work lights out in the bush. This mod was very handy one of my favourites.

You know I have a set mounted on my truck. They arnt wired for reverse because like mmmtof said how far are you really backing up that you need that much light? I wired mine to a switch. They work wonders if your loading stuff into the bed at night since the cargo light doesnt do much.

I need to angle them out more or something, because they dont work all that well as reverse lights. They are great for extra light when you need it though. I will snap some pics when it gets darker.

IMO don’t use the Driving Lights, think about the person behind you.
KC Backup Lights give off a really good pattern, funny how everyone is different.
My opinion on the mounting, mount them with a slight twist toward the outside edge of the truck, and a slight overlap of the inside of the beam. this way they will give you coverage directly behind you and outward as far as possible.
Mount them at the ¼ point in from each side, again IMHO.
