LoJack? GPS Trackers? Worth it?

I have come to the conclusion I need another way to protect my ride. I was looking at lojack because I've know the name most of my life due to my father's old job in the police lights and sirens business. Also I have seen GPS units advertised for parents to track their kids. I am just looking for an option that will give at least a shred of a piece of mind if my truck is ever stolen. My truck supposedly has a starter kill installed with the alarm and the PATS thing stock, but assuming it is taken by force I want another way then just telling the cops, white 2002 ford ranger pickup and list my mods and plate#. The problem I see with lojack is not all counties have it and GPS is easily blocked by a concrete garage.. And saying “I would never let anyone take my truck” is bs if they’ve got a gun to your face or at your loved one's.

Any thoughts or am I just paranoid?

btw Operation Repo on TruTv is badass..

It isnt a bad idea to have somthing.
Id go with a gps since they can be tracked anywhere except if they go into a tunnel or concret garage.

It is cool but its really really fake. Like when they repo the helicopter the guy walks away from it, the engine is off, blades are still spinning down. Thats a big no-no. When they repo the suburban, there is a camera man that films them driving away. So did they just leave him there with a guy with a gun?

Sorry to ruin your fun...

well what alarm do you have? i know dei sells a gps unit but i havent installed one yet... best suggestion is dont get gps or lojack! you have to pay a monthly fee for it. add more sirens to the alarm, make sure all your wires are taped up and the brain is hiden along with the siren. do you have full coverage? if so if they will cover it if it gets stolen. yeah it will suck but o well. steal my truck i dont care i will buy a new one and get over the being mad.

And when was the last time you heard a car alram and did anything more than get mad it was going off .. get the gps just my 2cents.

I just can not justify the $$$ for LoJack or GPS' monthly fees, if it happens it happens,, just a tad paranoid then..

How about a battery disconnect type of deal? Get one with a key and you'll be set
