Need new ideas
I'm not sure of the look I am going for. I have a flowmaster exhaust already, that's why I did the custom intake. I really want to put a 2001 XLT front end on, but that is a little expensive to do all at once. Also thinking about bull bars with lights. I don't want a body lift because I use the truck quite a bit off road and heard the body lifts were bad for off road vehicles. Also I don't really want 33's because I use the truck on-road a bit as well and would hate to lose my mpg I currently have. If any of these 'myths' I hears aren't true let me know maybe it will change my mind. As for the full console I have 60-40 seats and really like having my wife sit next to me and so I can't do the full console from the explorer, even though I would like it if I had it.
Great ideas so far. Keep them coming. Can anyone tell me about the air conditioner mod? I know how to do it, but I don't really understand why.

Lol body lifts aren't bad at all for off road vehicles. Look at some of the biggest wheelers on this site, most of the trucks have a body lift. I wheel mine with a body lift, zabeard, 99ranger4x4, I can go on and on. Just something to think about.
I think if it was proven safe I would think about it more seriously. What type of wheeling do you do with your lift? How big of a lift do you have? What brand(s) are good bodylifts? Why do people consider it not safe? How is your mpg? I know we have rangers and all that, but still.....
Thanks for the help!

Dromlace, you have visor on your list. What does that mean? Is that like a windshield shade that says Ford or something else? You have some great ideas I can't wait to see pictures of your process.
I heard even with the Herculiner it's better to buy the sprayer. Is this true or will it look good with just the roll on application? I have heard of the Herculiner and will look into using this method.
bl are perfectly fine, damn near anyone that wants a cheaper way to lift the truck for larger tires does one. i wheel all the time and i'm looking a getting one. and you can somewhat correct your mpg loss with gearing. 4wheelparts.com has a gearing list in their tire section that could be of some help. IMO i would go with lift and taller tires, i don't like bull bars cuz they decrease your front approach angle and ground clearance. I'm going to take the route of custom plate bumper. because everyone and their brother puts tube prerunner ones on. also get a skid plate protect everything up front
Is the SAS the explorer swap everyone is talking about (well not everyone but..). Also after some more reading a skit plate would be a great idea. I am planning on taking a welding class at the local college here and most of the guys do a skid plate and bumpers for their trucks as their final projects.
Have you tried going to tire rack? if not check them out. They have a huge variety of tires and rims for your truck. Secondly you shouldn't have any reservations concerning a body lift. Trent, Zaebeard and a few others have also said that the body lift gave extra clearance for some exhaust headers, and if doing a V8 swap it also helps in a big big way to have that extra room when doing the V8 swap as well. So the Body lift is a good thing. What about some chrome bumpers?
