Once you have figured out what the trigger mechanism would be.... then install a LED banner in the rear window with different colored bulbs..... that will FLASH....

You can buy sequential kits for the older mustang tail lights that flash in sequence so i dont see that its not possible.....But seems to me that if you had something like that that either flashed or was a strobe light that those fellas with those kool lights on top of their cars would be droolin about tickets. I was always led to believe that either red or blue flashing or strobe style lighting was a big no-no. I have a tricked out blue focus along with my 02 ranger and i put some a strobe kit in my 3rd brake light that lit up when i hit the brakes and a damn cop gave me a ticket for illegal lighting. Dunno its more a 50-50 issue. Id do it just for the coolness factor. But if people dont pay attention like ive seen them do a million times....you go from a short bed to a hospital bed.

 

on my 05 fx4 when i brake the 3rd brake light flashes 3 or 4 times then goes solid
