"New Mod" Aluminum Window seal

I took the rubber coating off of the things under the door windows, and polished em up and sprayed some clear on em.I might go back and paint them to match the truck, I just wanna see how well they hold up. I need some chrome door handles now.

Step 1: roll down windows, push in as u are pulling up it should just pop right up.

Step 2: Most of the rubber will pull off by hand "mine did anyways", The rest should come off with sand paper and a razor.

Step 3: Sand smooth, i started with p320 and worked to 1000 grit.

Step 4: Use paint prep solvent to wipe down and remove any dust.

Step 5: Paint, I just cleared mine, but it could be painted

Step 6: Watch the paint dry. Boring, so take a break.

Step 7: put it back on.make sure it slides under the mirrors first or it wont go back on.

Aluminum will not rust, and the clear should hold against the corrosion.

I like the chrome. To bad I have no other chrome on my truck or else I would do this mod.

give this one a try, paint sticks to metal a little better. Didn't see ur post but Iwas tryin to fix mine, same problem as urs, and I noticed it was peeling from the bottom, so I pulled it and almost all the rubber came off.And it is really esy to get them off.

Try this page instead:

I took the drivers side seal off and when I went to put it back on, it wouldn't go back down all the way. The metal flanges that hold it in bent a little and had to be rebent to fit back in. So I pulled it off again to fix the metal flange and I noticed one of them was torn almost off. So I don't think I'll be takin off again. I just kept the passenger side on and taped it off to paint it.

I think in 01 they went to aluminum, the olde rmodels all had steel thats why ours is rusted. Ford sells the alumnium ones I hear it just pops off and just put the new one there.
