No carpet

Well.. I had this idea. Since I get stuck in the mud more then I should and I track a boat load of dirt and flith into my truck all the time...

I was wondering if taking all the carpet out and spraying bedliner where the carpet would be is a good idea.

Yay or nay?

Get vinyl flooring. Some Rangers came with it and I'm sure it will fit your truck.

yea the vinyl floor will be your better option here. you retain sound deadening and it is cool and cleans up very easy. it is just finding the floor for somewhat decent price that might take a little bit. but it will be a direct deplacement

I've seen a lot of jeeps do it, then they can just pull a drain plug and hose out the interior, looks convenient if you need it. I'd never do it, I like my carpet and I rarely track THAT much mud in there, I just got rubber floor mats

yeah!!!

thats my idea
i just got done with doin this project
i painted the whole interior black
ripped out the carpets
and rolled hurculiner
and then put some rubber mats down

i left the drain hole so if i need to wash it out the water will just drain out of it.

i really like the way it looks

tell me if you want pics

I went with a set of these http://www.huskyliners.com/floorliners.html

I just take them out and hose them off, They hold on the dirt/mud/water in them cause they have higher sides.

I do that with my vinyl floor, just pull the seats out and hose it down. The water drains out of the seat bolt holes. You can normally get it cheap from a JY.

I did that too but for some reason my friends push down hard with their feet and it eventually tore out the carpet screws.

New vinyl flooring is about $100ish from rockauto.

if you pull out the insulation and just bedline the floor it will be hot and noisy. if you can deal with that then i say do it.

I could not imagine our ranger with carpet.. Love the vinyl flooring, I mean after all you end up putting a rubber mat over carpet anyway..

I've got vynil floors and have thought about doing this mod, You could cover the wires with a piece of .064 Diamond plate.

thats what i have because water + floor insulation = mold. it gets really hot on the hump between the driver and passenger seat, where the automatic transmission sits inches underneath.

I have taken up the carpet before because my A/C (or something) leaked on it (I watched this event unfold) and there isn't much wiring down there.

I am going to see how the spray on liner works out for my friend before going against the idea and going with a vinyl.

i guess some people here really dont sumberge there truck in mud like i do.....the inerior of my truck is all linexed, mud/water can get under the vinyl and cause the floor to rust out, linex will protect the floor forever

Bedliners offer a lot of sound deadening and there isnt much on our truck's floor to begin with.

However, there are wires and **** run under the carpet that I would relocate some how if I could. Or figure out how to make a beauty pannel for them and have the beauty pannel sprayed too.

It would be badass to do a ford ranger interior that was 100% water proof. I like playing it little muddy puddles and I also like my windows down but I dont like cleaning dirt and water our of a cloth interior and carpet floor.
