Need some opinions/help (gears,rock/frame sliders etc

Hey everyone,

I am just looking for some opinions and help. I have been looking into re-gearing my ranger but don't know too much about it. I have 4.0 OHV, and stock 4.10s and am currently running 33 BFG MT KM2s (pretty nice tires if anyone was thinking about getting some) with a good chance of going to 35s once these wear out. After some searching on here most guys seem to run 4.56 or 4.88. I was just wondering what would be the best option for me,my truck is my daily driver with some off-roading with my buddies on the weekends.

Also I have never replaced gears before but I am pretty mechanically inclined so I think I can do it. Any insight/know how would be great. Is there any specific brand that is better then the others? I am in college (which if anyone works for a company that is looking to hire a Mechanical Engineer I will be graduating in May) so I don't have a ton of money to spend on them.

Future plans for the truck include rock sliders, front end conversion, rear disc brake conversion etc. So if anyone has any opinions/ help with these feel free to post as well.

Thanks in advance for all the help. i LOVE this forum, I have already learned so much from it.

Stick with the 4.10s. They'll work fine for a DD.

I've got 33s and 3.73s. Works fine. Specially if you plan to work on the front as you say later down the road.
