Painting inside of clear taillights?

Is it possible to separate the cover off the clear taillights to paint them? This is what I had in mind. Not really these, but just clear taillights in general.

I wanted to paint the area around the red peices to match the body color (orange) so it would kinda blend with the body.

I would say boil them. you're gonna need a big pot though.

Should work just make sure not to get the reflective surfaces, and probably be best to start with the black background.
