You have to buy a header panel, new head lights and grill and maybe a hood from an 01+ ranger...

Closest you can do is the "speed grill" inserts.

you won't need a hood if you don't want it. i ran 01-03 header panel, grille and lights with 99 hood bumper and valence for a while

So a newer grill will not go on a 2000 or earlier truck without changing the headlights and header? (Obviously anything will work with some fab, but I'm talking bolt-on) I know some of the newer ones have a different shape to the hood and grill, and the 01+ have the filler panel for under the headlights, but are the mounting points different on them?

Thanks a lot guys. I think I'm just gonna abandon the idea. I think I can stomach the grill I got. But I do really appreciate the help.

Correct, you can't put an 01-03, 04-05 or 06+ grille on a 98-00 without swapping the header panel. Mounting points are indeed different.

I haven't looked at it that close, so forgive me if this is a stupid question, but changing the header panel would require changing the lights, correct?

Then fab it is. I have some ideas, and I like having something slightly different anyway. I'm no stranger to custom fab.
