Ambient lighting

The new 2008 Ford cars like Focus, Fusion and Mustang have ambient lighting in the footwells. It's a dim, clean light that really makes things look nice.

I want to do this for my truck, just a clean, dim blue. Nothing bright neon/ricerish...

Anyone have any ideas to help? Anyone did anything like this already?

i recently installed some blue lights in my truck, up under the glove box and under the steering wheel (right behind the hood release) and they look pretty tight, cut a hole in the back of the cupholder for the switch, ran the power from the extra cigarette lighter hole, used 2 layers of double sided tape to keep them on, will take and post some pics once its dark here

i might beet ben to the pics but i did my lights under the dash stuck directly to the fire wall low though so that the clutch, brake, and gas pedals dont cast a shadow their actually LED pods that have 6 LEDs in them each

EDIT: btw mine are on a remote control that i have mounted under my dash but hidden very well allot less wires to run and hide

Did it a while ago, in both my 04 Ranger Edge, and Evo IX. Am going to do amber LEDs in the 03 Ranger this summer. Also did matching LEDs under the door hem that are controlled with the stock circuitry by use of a transistor to know if the door is open/shut. They come on only when opened. See vids.

Also have matching LED clusters.

Working on LED cluster now for 2003.

Sorry if I just owned this thread....

I sell a footwell lighting kit for 40$ that covers both sides, 2 mini LED pods per side. PM me if interested. I have multiple colors.

Be my guest. Please ask questions if you have anything your not sure on because alot of it was trial and error and painful learning. The transistor trick on the door circuit is my pride and joy

I have 2 RED strips that would fit PERFECT on a ranger for sale if anyone wants them. - Same color as the IX, but imagine it on a ranger.

40$ + actual shipping does both doors.

Sure - not cheap though. I've done LED work for R/F members before. Like "mail me your parts and some cash and I mail it back w/ LED" Half of the site has bought my tail light LEDs also.

You all realize I can't do clusters unless you send a spare, and on 04+'s you need to keep your original board because its married to the SJB and ECU. (I don't modify the board, just the plastic portion anyways)

Yea, I was just curious, I finished my LED swap, and I'm disappointed in my hot spots, I'm trying to figure out a way to distribute the light better, maybe tin foil around to bounce light?

I bought Tin foil tape for my 2004 cluster, works okay, but strips work 100X better.
