So I've been looking everywhere for a small toolbox for the bed but don't want to fork out $300 since I realy only need a few wrenches and sockets etc for when I'm riding my quad.

So I decided on a super fancy ammo box. :) haha. $10 ftw!

Anyways I'm not going to put it in the bed but rather secure it to the back panel and floor. I'm on my phone so no pics yet but I will keep an update on this "build" so everyone can see how it turns out. Should be a cheap yet useful mod

I'm thinking of doing white and black camouflage by the way lol. But that's after I figure out a good way of securing it

Don't laugh! Haha. I mean really I have no use for a big tool box. Heck ammo cans are built as solid as anything right?

I have one more class today then I'm going to the hardware store for some L brackets

Also thinking I should line it with some foam since its gonna be like a foot from my sub haha. Hmmm actually I have some left over dynamat from doing my whole interior

I know a ton of people that install them on atvs and stuff just for that reason. Tough, waterproof and pretty cheap.

Yup yup! I just liked the idea of being able to take it out and bring ALL the tools over to the quad when I'm working instead of going back and forth. Well school over! Off to the hardware store and I'll get some pics up later of the plan. Probably won't get it installed because sons of anarchy is on tonight lol :)

ok THOUGHT i had some L brackets that would be high enough but i thought wrong

so basically i pulled the cargo net off and filled the holes with rivots lol. it works i don't wanna hear it...

heres what i'm working with

i'm gonna "mount" it dead center

need longer L brackets like i said but you get a basic idea of what im plannin on doing
going to do 2 brackets on the front and one on each side

i might use the short ones just to see if it's all gonna work. and i'll paint the brackets don't worry haha

basically $10 for the ammo box, $3 for brackets, and $10 for a roll of foam to do the inside of the box.

changed my mind on the camo paint. gonna do flat black and make a template to spray the ford logo in red to match my seats :)

I roll my 30 ft tow strap up and throw it in one...perfect fit for the strap..keeps it dry and I always know where it is.

I wonder if someone makes a bracket you can sort of snap it in to? That would be awesome

Hmm maybe something like this:

ooooh i like that! i'm gonna snag my friends welder tomorrow i think and just tack the "L" brackets on each side then run a bolt through the floor :) that would be wayyy safer haha. plus no holes in the box so it's still waterproof!

ill get a pic up tomorrow of the whole back of the cab. i thought about mounting it in the bed but then i'd have to build a lock so yeah :/ i figure mounting it in the middle allows me to use the rear seats if need be. kinda hard to tell in the pic but when pushed all the way to the back it sits even with the bump in the back so it's a good fit

im assuming not since theres not any where i installed the center console so i guess i'll cross my fingers lol. the only thing that would be wired would be the third brake light which is under the headliner so i believe im safe!

just gotta find time to do all of this work full time and school full time isn't really helping but i'll keep updating :)

Haha yeah fun stuff

Ok realized my buddy doesn't work today so I won't get the brackets on quite yet

Figure I'll bring the ammo can to school tomorrow and swing by an exhaust shop on one of my breaks

Oooh and I was up designing something evil to put on it instead of the plain "ranger" but you will have to wait >:)
