lol
Im already looking into it, from what Ive been able to find so far, its a pretty easy swap.
Im going to talk with my mechanic tomorrow and see what we can setup, but I do think Im going to go through with it, just might have to wait a couple weeks first to get some cash together in case of a problem.

damn...
so I found some good info last night about this and it isnt a straight swap.
the only way this engine will actually fit is if I have a coil suspension (which I dont know if I do or not) but it will cost way more than I can afford at the moment with at least 5-6 things specially modified for fitment/relocation.
plus my trans couldnt handle the v8, so Id need to use the trans from the cougar, which I didnt really want to do.
oh well, maybe this could happen down the road, but I cant afford to sink about $2k into my truck right now.

here is a link to engine differences:
v8 engine size
if my truck has a coiled suspension (98 -> 2wd models) it has more than 4" extra clearance in the bay that allows the wider engine plenty of room.
the 2 main problem areas are the exhaust and steering shaft, neither of which fit very well with one another and needs to serious modification to re-route them around one another.
the 2nd problem is the AC system will not fit at all, and being in SFL in a black truck, losing the AC isnt going to happen
