Icon5 Removal of front plate, radiator too exposed?

I just bought a 2006 FX4 L2, and I want to remove the front plate. It partially blocks the front tow hooks, and it looks meaner without it. The only problem is that it appears to leave the radiator/tranny cooler too exposed, I can imagine a rock hitting it and putting a hole in it...

There must be some people without a front plate, so what do you do?

I'm thinking about fabricating a type of metal screen for a guard, similair to the ones on my dirtbike....Anyone do anything like that either?

I've been running with no front plate since new (2003) - no problems. It's a ticketable offense to run without a front plate in California though.
