Sub box/center console?

I'd like to build a sub box that takes up the entire area behind the seats plus utilizes the space between the seats. I want to run a 15" sub which needs a 2.25 cubic foot (ported) box. I could use a smaller sealed box but I've noticed ported boxes are a bit louder. Anybody have any insight on this? I'd of course get a truck box for storage since I would have no storage in the cab anymore.

In terms of fitting a 15", my current thought is to fire it towards the back, so the magnet would be in between the seats, I can't see it fitting any other way.

Note: If you think this is overkill then this thread is not for you, lol.

That could very well work. If you have a reg cab, it would be tough, but it's a feasible idea, if you know how to do fiberglass.

A ported box is aproximately 3dB louder than a sealed box...twice as loud.

That's really what I would like to do... mount one BIG sub in between my seats with the magnet structure facing the front of the vehicle...

BUT, I would use a sealed box (I prefer to) and hook up an Extended Low Frequency circuit (18" sub got down to 8hz) and use an impedance switch to blow away the occasion ricer...

How much room did you have and how much did it need? there should be plenty of room for a 12" sub box.

But if you used all the room behind the seats as well, there would be enough airspace

Some people have some big boxes on this site. I'd search for it, i've heard of ppl doing stuff like this before. A big box could take up across the length of the back. I jus saw a dub 7 12 inch and its box was like, 2 1/2 feet cubed i believe.

Haha this pic i took will come in handy! 2 12s and 2 10s...

This guys a retard by the way! I'll tell that lil story in a sec.

So this is a 93 4x4 with 6 inch lift and 3 inch body and 35s. It has some ugly personal mods( u know when someone mods something you personally wouldnt do). It's starting to rust cause the guy keeps bad care of it. It has 38k miles on ORIGINAL engine and has a lil bit damaged interior. Lots of little engine mods, exhaust, etc, flaming gay 4 inch tips.

So i'm talkin to the guy "how much you think of sellin it for?" "Oh, prolly high KBB". WEll, we all know high kbb is prolly 4000 bucks so im like "SWEEEEEET" and then he drops a ****in bombshell. "high kbb, 10k". I was in shock i didnt say anything. What a ****in retard. he has a crappy deck, 3 amps, 2 10s, and 2 12s, and told me his system is worth 6000 bucks. WHAT A NOOB!!

^^^ you'd think with all those tires around he wouldn't have a problem keeping them ALL aired up... if one went he has like a million options to change 'em out with, haha!

I thought about doing the sub box/center consol thing for a while... but with a smaller sub... like a 10"... MAYBE 12"... just enough to give me some, ya know? I have an extended cab, but I still take people back there every now and then, so I didn't want to have a huge box back there taking up room. I also thought about making some low-pro boxes or something and making them in such a way to where you could still fold down the jumper seats in the back....

but...

... then I decided I liked taking trips out to the desert more than an amazing sounding system... so I spend the money on gas and suspension instead...
