okay guys heres one i have never

heard of. i have my gas tank in the bed of my '88 for traction. but im planning on changing it out with a 16gal fuel cell. when i told my dad about that he suggested that we pull off the bed and fabricte a steel tray to sit where the spare is and load it with lead blocks my brother inlaw can get at cost. anyone ever heard of this?? a new one to me!

if it works, who cares...maybe your dad made that one up and it sounds fine to me as long as that tray is strong enough and there is no room for the blocks to move.

ah, the lead weight package
you only need a couple of bags of sand and then you can use them for traction too

If you are not going to use the spare anyway, you could fill the tire with concrete, i've heard of that being done, but I don't know if the spare retainer thing is strong enough.

or put the fuel cell back there (in the spare location), some bagged trucks do that, but it might not be enough weight.

well, the only reason im even pondering the tank move (aside from aesthetics) is that "what if i get rear-ended" question that pops up! also id like to be able to use my fuel filler door again.
