weird exhaust?
ok so i asked this quesiton in another thread, but im waiting until after this weekend when 3" bl will be put on. Ordered super 44 single in dual out. Going to run one pipe out back with tip, and dump the other pipe right behind the rear axle. Im thinking that i will get some throat from the pipe, and some sound from the dump. What do you guys think?

hmm. not really sure man. just do dual out rear imo...
|
I think it'll sound like a twin engine aircraft from the inside....crazy drones and just plain odd sounding. Don't get me started on looks....
Either/or dude....dump, or pipes. Choose one. I've said it before and I'll say it again...I freakin' love the way mine sounds with tailpipes. I can actually turn my radio down and talk on the phone, yet it's loud enough to be pretty noticeable on the inside. On the outside, it sounds amazing when someone else is driving and I'm just standing there drooling at my sexy ass, sexy sounding truck. |

so i wont lack in performance if i dump both pipes behind the rear axle? Mine is dumped right now right after muffler, and i can feel that i lost some of my low end torque (probably in my head). I guess it boils down to personal preference and i wont know what i like until i try it. I just like to hear everybody's opinion hehe.

no cats= DOG

i went dual out the rear with my flowmaster 44...straight out, then i had them turned and dumped down on eash side behind my tire and i got a huge difference in deepness of sound. sounds WAY WAY better. amazing how two angles can change the sound so dramatically

Also, you've also talked about "gutting your last cat". Is that legal? What kind of inspection issues will arise with a gutted cat.

yeah true. After researching how to gut a cat, i considered it. Ill probably talk to my inspector dudes and ask them......

so what it boils down to, the difference is 99% sound... personally, i don't like droning in the vehicle... i had a 5L mustang (have i should say, as i still have it, just don't drive it) with the pipes cut under the front seats, and the rest of the exhaust removed... sounded pretty good... a little raspy, WOT sounded SICK, to me, to people out of the car... but driving down the hiway for more than an hour or so sucked balls! if i want to hear my car, i'll put the windows down from now on... |
Thanks for the info. I am a sponge for ford ranger knowledge.

all you need to know is: chevy< ford > dodge > toyota > nissan > honda
