Shaved Radio Antenna

Shaved Radio Antenna
I remember seeing one guy post something about this, but I haven't been able to find it.
Has anybody shaved their radio antenna and remounted it underneath the quarterpanel or hood? If so, how? and pics?
It's just something I was considering to further clean up the exterior of the truck. If you have any ideas, suggestions, or whatever, they are always appreciated.

Autoloc makes a hidden antenna kit for around $50 I believe.
I was tempted to shave mine when I repainted but decided not to.

i'd like to do the hidden antenna kit. but it says it doesnt include mounting hardware. what does that mean exactly?
also, is there any body work required after "hiding" the antenna to cover up where it used to be mounted? i don't have any experience with body work so im just wondering what is required and how hard it would be.. ?

To "Shave" the antenna, means to remove it, and generally weld in a filler plate, which also involves painting. You could probably get away with just respraying the wiper cowl, but you could run into blend issues being where it is.

your best bet is installing one of these.
AutoLoc HAB - AutoLoc Hidden Antenna Kits - Overview - SummitRacing.com
you just plug it in where you had your old antenna plugged in behind the radio.
as for the antenna mount get you one of these. it will keep that hole plugged w/o having to shave the antenna base.

Hmm I'll have to take a look and see what I think will look best. I don't know that I would be able to get a filler plate welded in there without having to hire a shop to do it, which I don't really want to do. I think it looks sick once it's shaved, I'll just have to put it pretty low on my list of mods right now. Hopefully I can get it done someday.

Here are a couple different links for an electronic antenna. I couldn't find where I bought mine and it doesn't say the brand on anywhere I can see.
HIDDEN ANTENNA
Tune Trapper Hidden Antenna, 853KU, The Tune Trapper is a hidden FM antenna that works! Mo
Then, I used this to cover up the antenna hole.

Mine worked fine until it came loose and now resides on the floorboard by the shifter (main reason it doesnt work now is because its retracted and folded up)....Im too lazy to remount it...I had it under the dash running through the firewall into the engine bay....Forgot the brand of antenna...Guess thats something I can do tomorrow...remount it with screws this time....

My parents have a conversion van and there's a second radio head unit installed for the rear passengers. Attached to THAT unit is an antenna that is like a window sticker with all sorts of thin wires built in.
The only downfall is that it looks unsightly IMO, but that's just personal preference.
