Power Rear Window.. possible?

I searched for a few minutes thinking this topic was covered, but didnt come across anything, so, i started a thread...

I was thinking about a mod to attempt this summer, and started to think about the power rear window, like the broncos had (can't remember if it was the bronco, or bronco II, or whatever)... i need help knowing what all would be involved.

i'd need a list of things put together to see how doable it is (plus any advice offered).

so anyway, lets hear your input guys!

Autoloc offered/offers a universal kit.

I would love to do this mod also.

It really shouldnt take much, maybe the motor from a bronco's rear window. custom fab a track. you'll lose about 6-8" of cab space but so what.

Let's get this thing figured out.

that's cool.. i thought they only had power slide (side to side, not up and down).

i'd want mine to go up and down, so im figuring i might be able to get somthing to work if i go junk yard hunting and pull some actuators and stuff from bronco's or whatever...

Thsi was discussed years ago on the old GE site.

You would actually have to remove most the back of the sport trac and weld it on to make it work.

i thought they were a bit bigger (thinking maybe like the same size as the F150s).

if they are though, that would be really nice

There were vertical power rear window kits for some F-series but I haven't seen one for a Ranger.

If anyone is looking for a powered replacement slider window,
HERE is a 4-door power slider for $409 shipped.

I thought about that once, but I just bought the Bronco instead of buying its power rear window for the Ranger

the '87 ranger bigfoot edition had a power rear window that went all the way down. my brother had one, it was awesome. good luck trying to find that setup. also, i don't even know if the windows are the same size from '87 up

The earlier rear windows were definitely a different size from late models.

for the slider version couldnt you just buy an electric motor and then fab up a track? If that's possible I'd do it as long as cost isnt that high. Doesnt really bother me to turn around and open it but it'd be a lot easier if you were driving down the highway.

we want a full window that slides down all the way out of sight for a full pass through though, not windows that slide sideways to open

yep that's exactly what i'd want to do.

the power windows that slide side to side would be cool, but yeah, i can open mine just fine while sitting in my seat, so there's really no need for it... if i was going to have a power window back there, i'd want it to be the entire window.
