There is no BEST oil. Different oils work differently for different applications. That being said, Mobil 1 5w-30 has been proven to be an excellent performer in the Ford 4.0 SOHC engine, proven by many UOA's (used oil analysis). So has Pennzoil Platinum, and Amsoil for that matter. I use Mobil 1, based on past experience, availability, and UOA information. You'll learn more than you ever wanted to know about motor oil! And I recommend that you use Motorcraft oil filters!

I voted Mobil 1. Sorry but you can't just look at oil and say it's good or bad you need a UOA to tell. This is from hot, dusty, dirty, sitting in traffic Phoenix.

I'm at 20,000 on a single Mobil 1 5w30 Extended Performance (Guaranteed to go 15,000) and the truck is still getting the same gas mileage and running at the same temp. I'll be changing it soon to see what it looks like. I've used both Mobil 1 and Castrol and I like Mobil a lot more. I'm in the Supra community as well and Amsoil and Mobil are the two biggest used. Royal Purple is a pretty good oil as well.
