royal purple?

Is this stuff really worth the price? I was thinking about changing all the oil over to RP but that would be about 150- 200 for everything!.Acording to the valvoline site my03 ranger is match to syn power and that oil has good reviews and the stuff cheaper and you probley get the same results .

goin full synthetic means oil changes less often. i dont run it personally, but a lot of guys on here run AMSoil, which is full syn to. you'd have to get their opinions

i run mobil 1 full syn. Did it at 30k and 34k miles since I got it. like $30 for 5 quarts and a filter.
a lot of people wait longer, and you can, but I do mine at least once a year because i usually don't drive enough in a year. no harm in doing it early, but not necessary

I am changing all the oil to synthetic oil for less friction, wear and longer changing time.

I found my engine likes mobil one full synthetic better than royal purple so I have stuck with that, plus it is cheaper. The low friction additive that makes royal purple "better" usually breaks down after 2000 miles but the oil is still good far beyond that. The pep boys in my are had a special, 5 quarts of mobil one full synthetic plus a purolator oil filter for $20.00 so that makes the decision easy.

I use Royal Purple oil and Wix filters. That's just my preference.

As long as you are following the scheduled maintenance that's all that really matters.

Wirelessly posted (Timberwolf)

I really like the RP gear oil with the lsd additive included. As for my engine? I use what Ford suggests. Which is cheap and works. I guess if you drive the living hell outta your rig, go with a syn. blend. IMO. Cheers

I use the Royal Purple in my 04 ford f-250 powerstroke, it's a great oil but also,is's a bit high in my opinion & I personally can't tell much difference in it & the Rotella that I was using, especially since I still change oil @ 3,000 miles. I know you can go longer but I just choose to change it @ this interval. I've heard great things about the valvoline full synthetic "EXTREME" 5-40 & the 15-40.You might want to look at their product also. I'm sure the R/P is a great product, I just can't seem to justify the cost of it in my truck simply because it takes 15 qts.I will be changing to the valvoline next time I change oil. What oil is being used by someone has as many opinions as the brands of oil available, lots! All I'm saying is use the brand that you are comfortable with.In my wife's 2011 mustang I use Castrol Syn-Tec 5-30 & there again it works great for me. Great question, because it gets good answers from different people across the board.

I just use quaker state 5w-30 high mileage stuff. And a motorcraft filter. Runs me about $13-$15 per oil change. I use pennzoil synchromesh in the Trans, Mercon in the transfercase, and just parts master 90w GL-5 gear oil in the differentials.

I was planning on putting royal purple in my tranny, but the pennzoil was wayyyyy cheaper and damn near the same thing.
