did the metal tailgate handles come stock on your ranger? i believe mine are plastic. hmmm.... upgrade time?

Mine broke on my 01 and I replaced it with a 2000 one which is metal. The dealership recommended it. So no it's not factory for my year but it is OEM for a 2000.

My 04 already has a metal one on it. I guess the dealer around here tells everybody the same thing.
