To be completely honest, a 8.8 - 31 spline is WAY too much for that 2.5L. Go grab yourself an 8.8 - 28 spline with 4.10's and a trac-lock. You'll be much happier and get better MPG and response. There's a pretty substantial weight difference between the two axles and if you aren't using it offroad or turning large tires, it's useless other than to say you have one. Make some money on it and downgrade to something more practical.

Your probably right. I really hate to ditch this thing, I was so excited when I found it, it was so much work to put it in, and it was like $500 for everything to install. Humm I wonder if someone in my area would be interested in trading me there stock 8.8, I mean mine has the bent flange but it has new brakes and drums, a Expo IRS cover plus the stock one, and brand new fluid. One of the reasons I bought it was for the easier disk brake conversion (which will only cost me $100) and lack of clutch based LS. Plus if I decide to SAS eventually I would have already had one axle. Frik.

I'm still waiting to hear back from 4wheelparts. It's been 48 hours.

Ok so Tasca has me right now at $200 shipped. Anyone has a 5% off code or something for them. Any little bit helps.

Never got a price on the expo one to get shortened?

I guarantee you some Jeep guy or even a ranger guy local would pick that up, probably pay cash for it with a 28 spline trade. If you had a bigger motor, or factory 4wd, I'd say keep it and throw some money down on a good OEM shaft. But, with what you have I'd say downsize a bit. That's what I'd personally do if I was you in this predicament.

Discs are nice with this axle because it's cheap, but it's not too much more for the same style setup on the 28 spline if you get the parts from the right places/people. If you upgrade the clutches in the TL to the carbon fibers they're just as good as that Torsen and more dependable, meaning not worrying when it's gonna go boom, like mine did.

However, if you want to part with that IRS cover, I'd like to discuss a price on it, if you do part ways with the 31 spline.

OOOOOOOhhhhhhh Now I see where this is headed. You just want my diff cover :icon16:

Naw I would probably transfer it over to the other 8.8

I would but I'm sure where to look. No off road shops around here and I've never looked into axle places. Maybe I'll ask around.

You just need to find a machine shop, not necessarily an axle shop.

It looks like Andrew might be able to hook me up. He had a LII 8.8 on his truck that he got from KLC before he wrecked. When he bought it it came with disc brake parts (which I've been planning on getting from him for awhile) and spare shafts which he still has. we're working out getting it shipped up here but it would defiantly solve my problem, plus I will have a spare driver side shaft as well.

That being said. CASE CLOSED
