I cleaned up the axle and did a little paint work on it. I also bent up a new set of brake lines; that was my first time doing brake lines, it was interesting. I will probably take the lines off my 7.5 and use them since the new ones suck. The paint job is decent and will get finished off when it is out of the garage and the lighting is better.

I am going tomorrow to move the spring plates to be in the proper position. It is amazing that the Explorer rear axle is the SAME width as the BII axle from the backing plate to backing plate.

I also finally snatched a t-case shift ****. I got 4 of them last weekend at the junk yard along with another shift linkage for the other BW1350M I have that is going in my buddies '89 BII.

Well I got the spring perches moved to where they are susposed to go. It wasn't too bad. I am going to be removing the 7.5 out of the BII this week while I wait on a new alternator (mine died and Summit is replacing it) and the new u-bolts/springs plates.

Here is a couple pictures from today. It is amazing that an Explorer rear axle is the same width from backing plate to backing plate as my BII.

Perches off:

I set it at roughly 11.5*. My stock is at 10* and it needed a degree or two.

Well I started the swap today after work. The only parts I am waiting on is the driveshaft flange. I am going tomorrow and picking up u-bolts and u-bolt plates from a guy in Louisville off of www.rrorc.com.

Here is where I left off today. I promised the fiance I would work with her on some wedding stuff tonight, so work was short. Everything but the brake line and springs is off the truck. The parking brake cables were easy to get lose; i was impressed.

These are the Explorer springs I am going to put the add-a-leaf into. The Explorer springs alone would give a stock BII about 1.5" of lift. Hopefully this levels the truck out more. I got these for $40 shipped and they are already been sand blasted and repainted

thanks!

I am going up to Indy on Saturday to get a Dana 35 (complete from hub to hub) for $50. That is much better than the $250 the junk yard wants for one.

I will later on, but for now drums will be fine. It has fairly new brakes on the axle now. I say by the end of the year I will convert it.

Hey I am Maurice's buddy who has been helping him. I am going to keep this thread updated for you all.

This is what we got done today. Too much beer drinking and a PITA spring bolt that stopped us for the day.

This is the bolt that wont budge:

We tried the top bolt. It was as tight and a PITA to get to because of the Bronco II body.

Yea he has Explorer springs to put on.

I heard "I wish I had Stone's breaker bar" tonight. I think it might move the truck off the jack stands!
