03 edge 4x4 conversion

Hey everyone, like the title states I am in the process of converting my 03 2wd edge to 4x4. As of right now the 2wd manual transmission is out, the 4wd is lined up and waiting to be bolted in and the rest will follow.

Plans for today include hooking up the transmission, starter etc, hooking up the 1350 manual transfer case and put in the rear drive shaft.

In the next couple weeks (once i find a job to replace my internship that is ending) i will be purchasing manual locking hubs, knuckles, cv's, front axle and front driveshaft. until then it will be 2wd with a tranfer case

Pics will come soon enough, just quit working on it at 2 a.m. and will hopefully finish sometime today

Well the tranny and transfer case went in well but the guy sold me the wrong driveshaft, its about a foot too long so im assuming its for an extended cab. Going to the junkyard to look for a regular cab, does anyone know if an explorer rear ds will work?

An Explorer rear shaft will work but it has to be from the explorer sport. The four door explorer rear shafts are too long.

Well today went smoother than expected, got the tranny and transfer case with rear driveshaft in and it runs just as good as before. It may be a few weeks till i get to the front, but its good to be half way at least

Yeah I hear ya. Do you plan to use the older style set up or the newer live axle? Come to think of it can you use manual locking hubs on the newer ones?

I've read you can use a 98-99 axle and its not engaged all the time with locking hubs, so i plan on doing that

Photobucket always shyts on me using Internet Explorer. I only use Photobucket on Firefox. It's quite fast compared to Explorer.

I somehow got my old BII stuck in 2 low once a long time ago. Had to drive home 15 miles with it redlining in fifth doing 35mph. Turned out to be a bad ground wire on the shift motor.
