you are right clay! Well i finally finished it up, been using the 4x4 and it works great so far. I had a friend weld in a pretty stout bracket for $25 and i had to get my bII driveshaft shortened by a custom shop. Wasnt a bad price, $100 and they put on two new universals to balance it perfectly. On to the pics!

you can get the front end parts from a 98 and up i believe. i got my front axle, knuckles, bearings and rotors from a 99. i just had to buy avm hubs since the pre 2000 didnt have live axles

what tranny and transfer case did you use. id like the manual case and hubs as well so i dont have to mess with computer stuff. i thought i saw somewhere that you can use the same brake caliper brackets and calipers from your 2wd setup. is that true and you just need the 12 inch rotors? did it require any steering parts? thanks

i couldnt tell you the part number of the tranny, but it was a manual tranny out of an 02 4x4 with the same 3.0 motor that i have. I ended up going with a 1350 transfer case out of a bronco II, this made it hard to do the drive shaft since i had to use the bronco II shaft and have it custom shortened by a shop. If you go 1354 manual you can use an explorer front shaft. i used the same brake calipers and brackets with 99 rotors, and a 98 front knuckles cvs and axle. avm hubs just plug right in and make it easy to engage/disengage 4wd, you can get them at summit racing

Older than 2001 will not have the speed sensor in the tranny. So if you don't mind not having a speedometer then yeah older trannys will work too.

hey 03 edge, i see you said you got the front drive shaft shortened, did you get a new yoke for the front diff. end to get the newer style u-joint, or what did you do for the front u-joint?? i have a manual shift 1350 in the garage and just looking to see what others have done to get the front shaft to work in newer trucks. thanks.
