My guess is a 4.6 DOHC, A stroker motor of some sort, or a 460 with nitro.
he's building a crawler, not a mud truck...

Back in the day he talked about a 460... so with that being said, my guess is a 460... but his type of wheeling now might of changed... i'm still sayin 460...

Ha, well I should have the new motor sometime next week or the week after and will start tearing it down for a re-build before it goes in the truck.

Picked up a new dd/beater last night. 86 4x4 nissan. No pics yet. Needs a head gasket.

EDIT:
I had to post this in here, It's hilarious.

This jackass emailed about my craigslist ad for my drivetrain. Ha. I told him to **** off.

Not the ranger but here's some "tech" for you guys.

Picked up an 86 nissan hardbody for 600 bucks. Body and interior are in pretty good shape.

Engine had blown head gasket b/t cyl 3 and 4. Had been blown a while and did some damage to the head directly b/t the combustion chamber b/t cyl 3 and 4.

So I ground out the head past the damage.

Welded it back up with excess weld.

And Ground down/polished the weld inside the combustion chambers.

Tomorrow I'll be dropping it off at a local engine shop and have the head fly cut and slap on a new head gasket and be ready to rock.

Cleaned up the front of the frame (finished cleaning off all the factory motor mounts etc) and will cut off the front of the cab tomorrow.

What do you mean "cut off the front of the cab?" Like the firewall? Or the fenders? Or the front of the frame? If that's the case... why clean off the motor mounts?

Strip everything off the firewall and cut the inner fenders off at the firewall.
