Going to replace all the gaskets. Head gaskets up in the air until after I do leak-down test tomorrow during lunch.

I've never seen/been inside of a mod motor, but good lord at the size of the lobes on the cam...

Well, quick update. Cylinder #3 has a decent leak-down of 15%. The rest are 80-90%. All through the vavles though, none were leaking into coolant passages or past the rings. There are 4 exhaust valves leaking and 3 intake. Ugh I just don't have good luck with engines these days.

Pulled one of the heads today. Just don't see how this was running when it was pulled. It's filthy inside.

Was pulled out of a friends relatives car, and was replaced with a reman engine. The car was driven to the shop, engine was pulled, put into the bed of a truck and delivered to me.

Ran "hot" once, but was really low on coolant/water.

Dunno, head-gaskets are fine. Only leak-down was through the valves, which are as bad as the top of the pistons. (carbon build-up wise)

Machine shop down the road is going to clean up the heads, deck them, install new valve guides (if replaceable in these, no idea yet) and seals, and re-lap the valves.

I'm probably going to replace all the rod and crank bearings as well. Will pull a couple and check them first though.

yeah I'm sure it will be fine after decking/cleaning. In reality alot of our engines look like that inside even when no bad signs are present.

Picking up a free.nintyfree 5.4 tomorrow. Depending on it's condition I might combine the 2 and stroke the 4.6, but if the 5.4 is in good enough shape to run, I'll just go with it.

**** mine was free, copy cat nothin! It literally fell into my lap, I wasn't looking for another engine at all.

It's out of a late 90's f series. So more than likely a 2 valve.

I'm going with a c6 and possibly a 205 t-case. Maybe an atlas or a stak if I get rich or we have an extra one laying around lol.

Ninja Edit:

Should have some actual updates soon. I'm going to just get the dimensions for the trans/t-case and go ahead and mount the engine in the truck when I get that situation figured out. So that i can start making links and throwing some more tube at it.

I do have a couple of things I'm going to do to make it high-speed friendly. All this desert **** we're getting into is rubbing off on me.

Ninja Edit 2:

http://www.tciauto.com/Products/TechInfo/trans_dims.asp

Too bad it only has the dimensions for a 2wd tailshaft =/

a c6 is kind of a boat anchor, plus doesnt it take like 75 hp to turn it? Shonuff82 and I were having a similar conversation the other day.

as for the stak or atlas, if you have an extra laying around ill be there in the morning to get it. LOL

it maybe a boat anchor of a trans but it is pretty stout and can handle an abundent amount of hp

and i just happen to have one if your interested in it with a 205 attached to it already

It can hold up to the abuse I'll be throwing at it.
