05 XLT 4x4 4.0

About a month ago I picked up a new Ranger, 2005 XLT 4x4 4.0 with 87,000 miles.

Made a few changes right away, I removed the side steps, not a fan of the look, especially on these smaller trucks I think they're pointless. I also switched over my Pioneer double din radio, reverse lights, light bar, and other style 16" wheels all from my other Ranger.

Other things that I plan on doing are:
Back Rack
Low profile tool box
LED Headlights and Fog Lights
LED Switchbacks
Explorer Center Console
06+ Color Matched Grille and Bumper
06+ Tail Lights

Picked up a Back Rack for the truck for a pretty good deal.

I got my toolbox mounted up from my old ranger, I plan on getting a low profile box since the mounts for the Back Rack lift the box up a couple inches and I'm not a huge fan of the look.

I also ordered some led pods to mount up to the Back Rack to use as reverse flood lights.

I am also picking up a set of factory Alcoa wheels soon. I'm going to have to do some refinishing on them, but I don't mind since it wouldn't be the first time I'd be doing it. I plan on getting some 31 inch mud terrains for them when I'm done refinishing them, and cranking the torsion keys all the way up.

Got LED headlights and fog lights installed on the truck.

Also went to the junkyard and picked up a center console out of a 99 explorer and got it mounted up in the truck. Also got an overhead console but I haven't installed it yet since it is a gray console and I have the tan interior. Got it all for $40.

Got LED pods installed on the back rack and I'll be wiring them up to a 3 way switch so they will come on automatically with the reverse lights, and when I want to manually. I'll be doing the same thing for the lights that I have mounted under the bumper.
Also picked up a new low profile tool box that I'll be replacing with the one that I have now.

Those lights look as if they could light up my local baseball park

Cool thing is you'll be able to see into the future...WHILE BACKING UP!

Can/did you wire the rack-mounted lights to work as bed illumination as well as reverse?

If they're independent from reverse, cool, but if they do both jobs...that's pretty sick

I wired up the reverse lights to two different 3 way switches, one for the back rack, and one for the bumper lights. The middle position on the switch is off, up turns the lights on demand, and the down position turns the lights on when the truck is put into reverse. Wired it up this way so I didn't have to flip a switch anytime that I was backing up, and so if I was working in the bed area, I'd still be able to use the lights without the truck in reverse.

Got a 3rd brake light from an older ranger wired up today in the truck, gonna be getting some LEDs for it soon.

Also picked up my new wheels for the truck today and got the old dry rotted tires taken off, going to be refinishing them and getting some 31 mud terrains for them.
