dang, this swap is such an awesome idea! it will be really awesome on your truck too. there's nothing like that v8 sound. much more fitting for a big mud truck like yours.

You will be running the 1.7 rockers RIGHT !
The lift is a good thing especially if the intake is bigger and the exhaust is open.

Sounds like a great ride is forming up, good luck with it.

Sadly I'm using stock 1.5 rockers for now. I know it will work. The plan is to get a trick flow top end kit next year so I dont want spend much money on the gt40p's.

Thank you! It should be one hell of a fun truck thats for sure.

That's for sure! 18" coilovers 4 linked front and rear. The top of the roofs will be 11ft. One of them is getting a 435 stroker and the other has a 460 waiting to get stroked.

Does anyone know why there are no long tube headers that will work in a ranger? I know you have to get special gt40p long tubes, but what do they hit on? Being sas I have a lot of extra room, I wonder if I can retro fit a set instead of making my own.

If i remember right they would hit somewhere on the frame which you probably removed when you SAS'd it. I know there is a ton of room with the SAS so I wouldnt know why you cant fit some basic long tubes.

That's what I'm thinking. I was looking at it today and there's so much room. I think that's what ill do. It shouldn't take much to get them to fit if they hit anywhere.

Are there any fender headers that fit that motor? that way you could just go right over the frame and out the rear part of your wheel wells :) otherwise just make a set, easier to make than figuring out the bends etc to get them to go down between the frame...and umm pretty BA

Wouldn't your tires rub them at full lock?

depends on your axle/wheel/tire. full width on a ranger with a lower Backspace wheel and you'd be fine. And if your axle is moved forward some i wouldnt worry about it.

otherwise..zoomies biatch!

I think my tires would rub also, but I never thought of outside the rails. Ill have to check into that thanks! As for the zoomies, I would love to run them but I dont think I could sneak them through inspection haha

How much difference is there between the Long tube and the shorty headers ?
I know there is more torque in the long tubes but is the difference in HP/Torque worth the grief and aggravation ?

Also, Have you check ed out L&L Products, there stuff is nice, well made heavy tube wall but a little pricey.

Their shorty header are the best I have seen for 97 down Ranger Conversion Headers and the long tube stuff looks great but I am not sure what will fit

L and L Products

Here’s their site too: L and L Products
