Every time I see this thread bumped to the top of the list, I hope to come on and see some suspension being chopped off.

when i start to see my suspension take shape it will be coming off, im just getting the loose ends out of the way while i wait, so it goes somewhat smoothly.. but my springs are still on arrival. once they come in, then i can get buisy.

EDIT:
my rear lift blocks came in today, but my springs are still MIA. i went to get material for the box mount but i couldnt get any 5/16 angle plate that i wanted. i ended up finding a free length of 3/8 angle plate to beef up the side of my frame rail. i just didnt think 1/4" would justify as strong enough with all the forces being applied to that side of the frame rail. i may remove some material if its going to have problems with its thickness, but i wont be sleeving the frame itself for bolts, instead ill be putting studs into the plate to put the box onto, making it alot easier to mount up..

my skyjacker rear springs came in this afternoon, i didnt realize a shim comes built into eash spring pack to componsate for the caster angle. im hoping with the angled 4" block i got, it wont be to much caster to be ideal...

ill be sitting funny by the end of the week i imagine..

Yeah that will be interesting. The shim that came with mine works perfect with the springs, stock block and shackles. I'm interested to see how it will come out.

one nice feature is that i can always flip the block backwards to counteract the added angle. i will actually loose any angle from the shim but ill see how it looks


tomorrow ill be attempting the instal of the springs & block kit and ill go for a torsion bar twist to try and bring the front up a little..

today i had some fun, i got the rear springs and blocks in place.

its never good to run into issues, so ill talk about those first, incase anyone else goes and does this on their own..

comparing the fr36 to the factory ranger leafs i noticed the bushing sleeves are differently sized. the ranger spring uses a larger diameter bolt for the front eye and the fr36 used smaller14mm for the front and rear eye, i needed to find someone to bring me the hardware after the fact...

after i installed everything i noticed my shocks were a little short, i could only get the front one on. i ended up gaining over 10" of lift!!? im told that the fr36 is a 4" lift alone, using no block, with the factory block you will get 6". i decided to swap the factory block with a 4" replacement and was aiming for 8 gained inches of height but i got 10"+. ill get new 30" shocks tomorrow evening.. the new shocks will also work as travel limiters, as i have gained alot more down travel in the suspension now

my caster was a little questionable, i had plenty of it to correct the drive angle but i had just a little to much in the end. it ended up being close enough and i actually found it helped me on the test drive. the drive shaft is actually more inline then it was before the lift. 0-100kmh is perfect with no vibrations, sounds or issues. i was having trouble before getting past 100kmh as a vibration began to happen. now past 100kmh i am able to keep up with highway traffic lol..

overall the install was fairly demanding but capable of doing, as long as you have 2 12ton jack stands, a couple smaller stands and a jack you can get it done. i found the most complicated part was balancing the truck in a few positions and trying to not have it fall on me.. im 5'10" and the top of my tail gate is just above my chin.. tomorrow ill need to trim the ubolts, and give them a good torque down to 140ft pounds and install some shocks..

yeah I bet.. waiting sucks. but you are getting it done nice and clean with little problems when done over time.

skyjacker Hydro 7000's installed tonight, and also did a 2.5" t-bar crank this afternoon. the front is still raked by 4" or so, but it looks a little more normal..

i have no new info on my front leafs, if anyone can tell me of another place to buy my rancho's let me know asap! or where can i get a set of stock waggy springs?

I got my stock Waggys from JC Whitney.

I have some really nice alcan leafs I can sell you for a good deal. They are based of a waggy pack, about a 4" lift or so and shortened up some. 41" eye to eye if i remember correctly. guy on here had them for his ranger sas. come with ranger rear shackles on them and hardware. let me know!

yea ive seen the jc whittney springs used before and they look like they work great for the price. im just going to see what is happening with the rancho springs this week and ill see what i need to do..

EDIT: i finally got an update about my backordered springs, rancho is still awaiting material to make the springs. when it arrives they can make them and ship em out. i was given a final shipdate of 1 month from now.. so im in for a wait.. and apparently i cant change my mind now because i cant get my money back on this order now.

stilll awaiting the springs but im doing what i can to work around them.
steering box mount, rear shackle hangars and front hangar crossmember is starting to come together. im missing a few measurements from the springs so i cant get much further until they arrive.

box mount is 3/8 angle plate that sits on the frame and will be trimmed to fit the frame as nicely as possible then seamed from all sides. partially countersunk and cleared 1/2-20 bolts will stud the plate creating a fairly stable versitile mounting

front hangar is 3x2x1/4 wall with 5/16 plate for the hangars, im not sure of the sleeve bolt size on the springs or the sleeve width so this will stay un-assembled until the springs arrive.

rear shackle hangars are made of a 1/2" base plate which will be trimmed down once the frame offset is determined,then the base plate will be supported to the frame also (supports not shown) it also uses 5/16 plate for the hangar material. should be tough enough to handle anything i could throw at it.. i also used a factory shackle for ease of mounting.

you spend a ton of time and attention to detail! looking good.

lol thanks, if i had my springs i might even have been done it by now. i literally got everything needed to finish it. i just called rancho direct tonight and they said they are still missing a critical part to make the springs... still! so i complained some more and they are going direct to the factory in cali. to find out what the hold up is. i should get an update by Monday.

GREAT attention to detail for sure. nice welds on top of that. This is gunna be a nicely finished piece when your done with it. kinda makes me wish i didnt rush so many things on my truck now lol

eventually, i dont have much else to post on this as of yet. im sitting idle until my springs come in, then its just some final assembly of the front crossmember and a hardware run then ill be good to start the swap..

i actually just got the call this afternoon that rancho is producing the rs44044 springs, finally.! and i should be seeing them middle of august. until then we wait lol
