1991 STX log
okay, so I'm 17 working 5 days a week on minimum wage(6.55/hr) this truck has been in my family since new, starting with my uncle then my dad bought it from him in 06..I think...then around last September my parents bought me a 95 Buick century....but I didn't want it, and took over the truck(after a speeding ticket in the Buick(its a v-6))
here what I started with:
free roll bar from a friend:
painted roll bar:
I've done a few more things but I don't wanna spoil it all in one shot, so more pictures for y'all tomorrow =]
suggestions on what to do next is appreciated.
don't hold back either Its kinda a rust bucket right now

I thought the roll bar was too tall at first too, it looks better in black, it grows on you, but i wouldn't mind to shorten it if i could figure out how...also my paint is pretty good beside a few spots like the roof and the spot between the hood and the wind screen are loosing clear, any way to put the clear back on or does it need to get repainted...I'd rather not respray it because of cost and i like my vinyls and they are hard to find

alright update time, after getting an alignment at pep boys and waiting 2.5 hours for them not to get it perfect(the wheel used to be on the right, now its on the left and it vibrates kinda bad 50ish-60ish other than that its okay) then going to 2 different lowes because the first one didn't have what I needed I got home and started in on the center console, I got it screwed into the floor(sides only has to be made inside the truck due to clearance issues) and I cut the first piece to screw in and the screws I bought this morning at lowes were 3/4 and i have 5/8 wood...so I had to go back to lowes and get more screws..then it was too late to work anymore...so I cleaned up for the day, but I have everything I need now and hopefully I can get it done before work tomorrow...or at least all built I can live without carpet for now.
I found charcoal carpet that looks like an exact match so that's a plus
pictures tomorrow.

so with some weeks and no change here comes some good stuff:
went to the junkyard, picked myself up a different style grill
sunroof, hopefully when i cut the hole I wont mess up the truck for good.
soon to come is repainted trim and hood and well as the last body line on the bottom painted to match.

are you planning on off roading this truck? is so a sunroof isnt the greatest idea you take a lot of support away from the top of the cab when you cut the big hole. i was thinking of modding in a power sunroof from an expoder but i got talked out of it because i would probably break the sun roof when i flexed it really hard and if i ever rolled my truck off roading the cab probably wouldnt hold up

well I didn't think of that, guess that idea is shot, I got it off a common car so I'm sure I can get more than I paid for it on craigslist or eBay

I want the console to go right up to the dash, and I have the exact carpet the exact same color as the ones on my floor, I just need staples.

okay so after over 2 months and no update I figure its time to revive this build thread...so I quit my job in favor of another one that's gonna pay upwards of 100 bucks a week vs. 40 bucks a week max.
first off the center console IS carpeted now, but it doesn't look so great because of all the cuts I made....I'm going to re do it soon, it does have 2 5x7's in there but one blew out so I'm gonna replace them with 6x9's instead, and possibly add 2 more cup holders(the 2 are always filled and the girlfriend thinks she owns the one on her side and throws my empty's on the floor) I very much like the center console, because I made it myself and its a great armrest that was thought out, plus an expo console wouldn't hold my speakers.
I took everything off down to heads to end the oil leak once and for all and while I was in there I painted it up:
after that I was at the junkyard getting another rear bumper so I didn't have to sand down the one I have, and on the way home my rear brakes went out, it was all the new jersey road salt and lack of attention from dad. so I completely re lined it from the booster block, to the wheel cylinders, and both wheel cylinder bleeder valves were rusted shut so new wheel cylinders, and while the drum was off I got new shoes and hardware. and I figured while the truck was on jack stands i redid the shocks as well, and the yellow shocks look pretty cool with the red diff cover.
I sold the rx-7 for 150, because I don't have time or money to fix it up right now, and I've always wanted a mustang so that's what I'm gonna get. with the cash i got from the car i bought another set of fogs for below the bumper(these I don't have to worry about switching off when people come the other way):
2 weeks ago the alternator went out, and that has been replaced and the truck seems to have more get up and go and spins tires a lot easier with the new one.
last week i found a great deal on craigslist for 1.5 inch wheel spacers for 40 bucks:
before:
after:
it looks a whole lot better with the wheels out further than the front for once, and it handles a lot better in the turns and slides less.
next thing in the works is another set of heads. I picked them up from the bone yard with warrentee for 95 bucks and had them check for cracks then resurfaced and cleaned for 75 bucks so newer heads for 170, and I'm taking my time building them when i have time and money to, I'm going to get all new springs and keepers. and I'm going to port and polish while I'm at it.

Very intrested in the STX emblem
I have some STX emblems off of a early 90's ranger if you want them. You can have them for $12 shipped.
