Exo/bumpers/some other stuff

weel decided to keep a log on whats gonna be the build of the new bumpers, sliders exo and other tuff i hope to get going whiule on track

first im starting off with the front bumper as i got an offer to build another one same as the one im making for another body lifted truck, so ill get some extra cash from there to keep my truck going

for now just got a teaer pic of what ive got sofar for the bumper. winch is gona go on the mount i already got on the truck on some 1/4 plate.

the pic is of the skin i'm making out of 1/8th plate (that Chicago plasma cutter is full of win for the price! )

still need to add some reinforcements on the inside to make it bullet proof and add some tubes to protect the lamps. and do a hell lot of grinding, but hope to get it done next week to start on the other trucks bumper as i need that money.

thanks, this will be just the skin that will bolt on the winch box thats already mounted, also still need to cut the 2 holes were ill be passing the towhooks that are attached to the side of the box that go on the 2 front side holes on the bumper box on the truck.

the outer shell i actually using hampster_1's bumper design, hope he doesent mind

also seems that ill be able to sell the original flares/front bumper/mudflaps pretty good, so hopefully ill be able to get the clutch worked, buy "bushwacker" imitation flares, and a table drill that will help out alot on the couple bumpers i need to make this month for a couple friends, and with that i guess i should be able to finishe the exo and rear bumper/sliders

well finally i finished a bumper that i sold to a local guess i like it better than mine that i just grinded down and sprayed some black on it.

the tube i think ill make it the same as this bumper or almost the same, dona add some fog lights also at first i didnt want to but seeing his done i like it alot, and some d-rings.

but this is the finall product still missing some nylon covers for the 2 square holes to access the winch that they give it one of this days and some side covers

a little update on the truck..

its been mostly on the shop for every possible issue i could had. first the clutch auxiliaryu pump failed-> changed... then the internal pump on the clutch went bad and flooded the whole clutch on brake fluid.. so new clutch/internal pump. then i had to replace the yota box, and finally my steering pump died on me, had to get a new one.
had to dress my truck as halloween to pass the anual car inspecions... so this is what it basically lookd like>

but the things done to the truck since last post => panhard is installed! finally huge diference! (still need to change some balljoints so still got some shake on the hightway (hope its only that..) )
bb's are in the tires finally, can barely hear them! though the diesel doesent let me hear much anyway....front bumper- SOLD! so new ones gona be in the making probably on december. i just need to finish the one i got and make it look like the red one i posed before.
1,5" front wheel spacers are on. i can finally turn with no rubbing! also i measured and now i can chain up all 4 tires !

also new plans for the exo, i hope to set a "auto defense shop" before the year ends, and my idea is to get a cnc cutter at somepoint so im gona start making the designs on computer with a friend to see how i can go.

so ... truck plans are right now kinda slow but the thing is i got a bigger list of things i need to get to be able to feel safe then the restp/ but the list is:

-- hydro-assist steering. found this PSC assist that bring alreadyy a tapped yota box, so basically plug and play.... but still need to find a hydraulic pump that i can fit my truck thats got bigger capacity... so thats whats killing me now.

-- Front bumper (hoping to learn to weld alum. so weel see if i go alum for the bumper )

--sliders

-- Snorkel. already got it, need to make it fit! (its the arb snorkel but for a 08 'yota hilux.)

when this done, probably ill start bracing the front exo to clear the hood, then if im able to get the shop going im making a new bed, some drawers and some extra toys. weel see if i can make it happen.

btw heres what it look the panhard test run

ill post pics of the panhard setup later.

some pics on the panhard

the bar is solid, not tube, plain solid, it was original in a yota 4runner. just had to shorten it a lil...

both mounts are 1/4 thick, and bolts are 5/8" , grade 8.

i know not the nicest welds.. but stick weld in there got VERY VERY difficult...

next step, hydro assist. still reserching about it. anyone know if having the ram adds more strain on the pump, or its opposite, and puts less strain on it? i know the steering box will suffer alot less. also im thinking bout upgrading the steering rad to lower temps? should it work to help the pump right?

youll need a higher volume pump, had trouble with mine after i put the ram on it. Found a kvr pump that fitted in the oem hole but i have a 4l sohc not the diesel. The feeling changed completely when i installed the pump.

hmmm yeah thats what ive been having issues as to what pump i might get to upgrade...

the one i have atm is brand new, original, not chinese... might bee diferent pumps, havent found how much oil it pumps yet. but should i worry as for the pump to die very soon with the ram? if i do it i plan on buying the new yota box tapped already...

forgot about this post.... not much since last update, bumper is almost finished lot of things have changed. im starting a shop making bumpers, roff baskets racks and stuff related to offroad accesories, so there goes most most next to all my money right now so the build is kinda slow.

although im still making my to do list a little bigger, and havent yet decided on some things i want for the truck.

as for the front bumper and the rollcage mounts on the bumper, lost my phone so the one im using right now i lost the cable to pass the pictures so i cant upload them yet.

and the only picture of the slider i got from a friends FB

as for the plans ive got atm are. in what i hope to be the order to accomplish

- get front fender painted and mounted,
- do front fender guards from bumper to slider
- hydro assist
- finish cabin exo
- 3-link front coilovers hopefully as i dont want to deal with springs and the tight space i have to place them
...
and for the rear is still in brain storm, as it all depends on how i do with the shop, as i currently got 2 guys working with me, still getting all the papers straight to get really working, but its a slow start.

for the rear ive been debating on what to do as what ive got in mind is:

- rear stear as what we got in costa rica are really tight trails made mostly buy quads and small suzukis, and lots and lots of trees so it would help on those winch assisted steering to make the turn . plus the motivation to be the first truck in CR to have rear steer
- custom rear bed, some drawers saftey boxes, rollbaer swing out gate and normal gate to be ablo to mount a quad (still a truck)
- type of suspension still on the the table, as ive even thought bout air bags for loads so not yet sure.

so i hope to get stuff straight on the shop to be able to get the truck finished someday, as its my idea of "showing off" my work. and this time im the one doing the build, or atleast most of it i hope.

gonna try to keepo this updated from now one to try and keep working on the truck

thanks, and actually the front bumper doesent fit perfectly straight but it also helps when the frame flexes it not hitting the front fender. (when theres lots of frame flex theres a gap of over 5" from the fender to the bumper) lets see if i can atleast finish the front fender guards (bumpert-slider ) for a trip now in may ..... and if everything goes as planned (doubt it) il have hydro assist steering

finally got something to show, sliders are almost done, they are painter prime in the meantime i think how i want to hold the rollcage mounts on them.

here u can see the sliders mounts (got 3 welded to the frame and the slider is bolted )

already hitt em a couple times and not a scar. finally got my windshield wipers working again (next day i fix em it starts raining like hell)

couple pics extra pics from an almost rollover i had that made me question te strenght of the rollcage i want. the hole was 9 feet deep, the front passenger tire was almost a feet away from the edge. what happend was that we were going on a light trail and when i was passing there a 3 feet gap pn the edge just felled almost taking the truck with it.

axle was completle burried on the ground, if the soil wouldave been a bit wet id wouldave rolled,

lucky i was riding alone, i almost took a 200lb guy as a copilot for that ride, he alone wouldave been wnough weight to tip me over, when i started to tip a friend got out of his truck going after me and grabed my rear tire when they were BOTH in the air!

getting me out, pretty easy to get out

and goofing on some rocks

also had a lil fun
