Broken 60/40 armrest? My solution...
Like many Rangers my 01 has the broken armrest and the top was missing. Here's how I am fixing mine.
Here's the before, note there is no latch...
I traced the pattern out on a piece of wood and cut it out.
Next I made a 5/16 bolt work for the latch by grinding the head off on 3 sides and adding a taper to the 4th side. I used a jam nut on top so it wouldn't be too tall.
Then I cut some foan and added 3 layers because it was only 1/4 thick. I glued it on the wood.
Because its what I had (and it was grey) I used a sweatshirt to cover the top.
Tommorrow I'll get it mounted to the armrest and show the finnished product....

I just recently purchased a ford Ranger and had an issue with the arm rest breaking completely off the hinges.... The top was totally broken and removable with minimal effort. I eventually got tired of not having an arm rest. Personally I find it very uncomfortable to drive WITHOUT an armrest.
So I bought two Arm rests that are able to be bolted on, I epoxied the plate and bolted it through the plastic body, (epoxy adds strength instead of relying on the bolts alone).
I bought the black one :), very comfortable and the fabric is pretty durable.
