great looking truck. i wish i had those seats. looking forward to seeing some of these mods happen.

 

Added a 13" antenna today. Not really for looks, but so my antenna doesn't constantly hit the roof of the garage at work. Also painted the bed rails with Rustoleum bedliner. I wish it didn't come out as a glossy finish, but it seems durable.

 

Added some new '06 corner lights. Gonna paint their housing and the headlight housings black, this weekend hopefully.

 

Picked up some nice BFG KM2 Mudders today. 33x12.5. Now I just need to get some 15x8 wheels and a lift, and she will be looking mean.

What's the status? You get the wheels and lift yet?

 

Lift kit is en route to me. Probably won't get the wheels until early to mid October. I just have too many expenses right now unfortunately. As soon as I get the wheels, I will put everything together. I'll keep everyone updated. I'm so excited for this truck.

 

estimated date for lift and new wheels is October 20th

 

Ordered some wheels that will be here Wednesday. The plan is to install the lift kit on Friday. That is subject to change though. I am kind of nervous to do it, so I keep going back to the idea of letting a shop do it. My friends have all the tools and space to work on it, but I have never done any work this big before. I've been reading "How-To's" all day and trying to get as educated as I can.

 

You're just doing a body lift, right? It isn't nearly as hard to do as you think. A few friends, some beers, some basic tools, and a weekend are all you need.

 

It is just a body lift. I got 1-2 friends helping, a big open airplane hanger, plenty of tools, and only 1 day to get it done. The part that has me nervous is all of the things I have to disconnect before I actually raise the cab and bed. Such as the radiator and all of the engine components.

 

its really easy if you follow the instructions step by step. take a day and read them before you begin so its not all new to you.

I did the lift on my current truck by myself in 11 hours.

spray the body bolts with pb blaster for 3 days in a row prior to lifting it.

 

This!! I made the mistake of not spraying the bolts beforehand, and getting them to break loose was one of the most frustrating things I've ever had to do lol

 

I used an impact and map gas on everything just for the hell of it and they all came out like butter

 

I've been spraying with PB blaster the last few days, I bought some MAP, and I got impact tools. Hoping for an 8 hour job.

 

should be easily attainable in 8 hours if your friends help and you have air

 

air tools are a huge plus. have a little torch on hand as well as a drill/bits for the front two mounts.

 

These beauties showed up today. 2 more days to go!

 

Off to lift the Ranger today. I'll report back tonight. Wheels will be thrown on tomorrow morning.

Two of the cab bolts, when I unscrew them, the bushings and nuts turn with them underneath the truck. What is a good way to fix this? I'm trying to grab them with the vice grips to keep the bushing from turning

 

Got the bolts out. Should take about 1-2 more hours if no more hiccups. This turned into a 14 hour job.

 

Lol a few on another members truck were doing that until I showed up with a torch and heated them up till the bushing was smoking and they came right out.
A good strap wrench would of worked as well more than likely

 

I had trouble with those ones to hah . Lots of heat and a pipe wrench made it a breeze.

I also didn't have any air tools. Used all hand tools aside from a drill to drill out the bushings.

It really is a lot easier than most people think.
