I've never heard of Spintech.. don't get a flowmaster.. I HATE mine. The drone is terrible. Might sound better on a V8.. and that set-up sounds good. True duals might be way too loud.

I have a flowmaster on my F-150 and love it. No, I'd be doing true duals on my 5.0. The 4.0 you heard is half torn out of the Ranger already

Going with a DI/DO muffler over true duals would tone things down some, not to mention having 2 mufflers would make for a tighter fit and would cost more. I hadn't heard of the Spintechs either til I started reading some of the exhaust threads on Mustang forums. They're pretty popular from what I've read. They also make all of their muffler types to whatever inlets and outlets you need so you aren't just limited to whatever they have available. There aren't many options at all for 3" DI/DO mufflers.

I like my flowmaster super 44 si/so muffler. I don't really get a drone at all. I think true duals would be too loud as well

Mine is the Original 40 SI/SO.. can't stand it. I'm gonna switch to Magnaflow and probly do a SI/DO or something. Which is what I wanted to begin with.. the muffler guy talked me out of the magnaflow.. and said it would be difficult to do the Dual straight out back because of how they would have to mount it around the hitch/leaf springs and stuff. Now I can't wait to change it.

Finally an update! Went to the shop today and here's what I found:

Explorer 8.8 rear end bolted to the leaf springs. Shocks and a few lines still not attached, but it's there!

Explorer transmission built and mounted up to the truck!

Driveshaft is connected between the transmission and rear end!

A 347 stroker mounted in the engine bay, attached to the transmission, and mostly assembled!

Issues/work left to do:

There is some interference with the headers and steering shaft due to the body lift, which was expected, and he's going to address that tomorrow. Shouldn't be too difficult to work around.

He was having some trouble figuring out all of the pin outs for the engine harness because the EVTMs don't explicitly have a table of circuit functions for each pin, but I found a link on TRS that should help solve that problem without him having to trace each one in the EVTMs. Definitely going to save him some time with that one. He said there were 9 pins that didn't match up.

The return line for the fuel system needs to be finished. Thankfully a great solution to that was posted on here recently. Should be easy to address now.

Wiring the gauges. He's going to wire them for me and leave them out of my custom bezel for now. Once I get the truck home I'll put everything in the bezel and wire the flashers and CEL.

Shocks and brake lines still need to be hooked up.

Other than that, everything is good! He told me that he would expect to have it firing either this weekend or early next week! Then it's on me to put the interior together, but we're getting close!

Haha I actually thought about that song when I was driving over there. Surprisingly enough, I had high hopes today. I'm sure it was probably just because of everything that happened this weekend though lol. It felt so good to see everything bolted onto the truck and not sitting on stands anymore.

Haha I'm really curious to see/hear how it runs for the first time with no exhaust system past the headers. Not having O2 sensors is probably going to make it go crazy.

Definitely. I'm going to tow it home since the shop is a good half hour from my house and I won't have the interior put together, but once I get the interior in, I'm thinking about just driving it to the exhaust shop. That ought to be fun.

haha I did that. I ran open headers 5-10miles or so to the shop. Was probably the most obnoxious thing I've done lol

lol The shop I'm planning to go to is about 15 miles from my house, and most of the drive is on the highway. It's going to get loud.

Got the cats, muffler, and exhaust tips ordered last night, but I think I'm going to ship the cats back once they come in and run without them. I went with the Spintech Pro Street 6000 3" DI/DO muffler and MBRP 4" angled black tips. I would've preferred weld-on tips, but couldn't find any I liked and these had good reviews.

Also got the ball rolling with tunes from MPT for my X4. I submitted the form last night, and got a very thorough email today from Mike who made some recommendations to me. He said with all of the modifications I'm doing, I should do some data-logging and let them truly tune the truck. Cost me $50, which I thought was a good deal. They will send me an initial tune, I install it, data log, send them the data, they rewrite the tune, and the process starts again until everyone is satisfied. He also told me that they should be able to bypass the PATS system, which is a big relief since I can't find the damn key to the Explorer for some reason.

Going to check on the build progress tonight. I'll be sure to take pics this time.

Pics from today's shop visit. Word from the guy is he thinks it'll be ready to fire up this weekend or the first half of next week. I can agree with that, but I don't think it'll be totally ready to take home for about a week and a half to 2 weeks because of everything that has to be hooked up. We'll just have to see. If I have time, I'm going up there Saturday to start hooking up some of the stuff that's at my house, just to cut down on the work I have to do at home.

Sorry for the poor lighting, but I promised pics and y'all begged for them, so y'all have to deal with it lol
