Got a couple of new mods mocked up. Well, the light bar has to go where it's shown, and the new Rigid fog lights are either going behind the valence grille or I'm going to separate my stock fog lights and mount the Rigids in the stock housing (minus the glass lens of course). It's the only way I can really get them in the stock location without doing some custom fabrication.

I'm leaning towards the first option because it'll cut down my install time by a lot and I'll still have functionality of the extra (stock) lights should I ever want to use them. It's also a unique look. Thoughts?

How did you mount the light bar?

Yay! Progress. I'd keep the pods there. Only way I'd put them where the fogs are is if you got an 04-05 valence with the square fogs.

Welded it to the roof

Just kidding. I drilled holes behind the rubber door seal and used the nutserts that were provided with the mounting brackets. There are 3 per side. I still have to seal everything up with silicone, which will be done tonight. If you need some pics, just let me know.

That what I was thinking. If I put them in the stock location, I was going to make a bracket that would fill the round hole, and then cut out a square for the Rigids to sit in. Too much work when I can put them in the center and still have an extra set of useable lights.

Looks good dude! Yeah I'd keep the LED pods in the center. Unless you were to replace the fog lights with the LED pods and then put a smaller light bar in the center.

8k. Got them back when I thought lights with blue tint were cool. Good thing they're going away.

Thanks! That'd be a good thing to do down the road, just not looking to get a another bar right now.

Sure thing. He just needs to find me an STX grille so we can swap everything in February.

Bad news: found an oil leak and coolant leak last night. Good news: they're separate from each other and it looks to just be some hose connections that need fixing. They also aren't big leaks, so I'm just going to top both off in the morning and try to hit the exhaust shop before they close at noon for New Years. I'll worry about fixing the hoses afterward.

So the truck was out of commission for a couple of weeks while I tracked down and fixed my leaks and a couple of other things. Had a couple of bad hoses and a bad thermostat housing gasket. While looking for gaskets, I found a new thermostat housing that uses an o-ring seal instead of the standard paper gasket. The only difference was that the hose connection is on a 45 degree angle instead of the stock 90. I bought it on the premise that even though I'd have to get a new flex hose to fit the angle, the O-ring seal would be much more reliable. So far I'm very happy with it.

I also finished the Ridgid LED fog light install, and am extremely pleased with it! I bought some deutsch-to-H10 adapters to make it a true plug and play with all of the stock wiring and switch. I'll put my round fog lights on another switch later. All I had to do was cut a couple of small notches in the valence so the brackets would fit, and I was able to use some holes in the crossmember to mount it all up. So much easier than I thought it'd be! I painted the valence grille black, and it still fits right in with the lights. As far as light output, it ties in perfectly with my low beams. They make it seem like I just have brighter headlights.

Also, I picked up a Leer fiberglass bed cover today that I found on Craigslist for $150. The only thing wrong with it is that it's a different color, but that's a relatively easy fix. Everything is in great shape on it. It'll come in handy for the Florida trip coming up, and I've had my eye on a tonneau for awhile anyway.

Onto the pics!

This was taken while sitting at a stop sign. The light is going across the 2 lane road, across a ditch, and a good 50 yards into the yard across the street.

Hey at least I sent you links. Could always sell the cover and get the topper up in Tampa on your way down. Then you wouldn't have to paint.

I bought a sander today so I'm going to redo it regardless. However, if you can get it for me, I'll trade out my tonneau for the topper and pay you back when I get there.

Gotta say, sweet ride. Haven't read all of it yet, but very nice regardless. I can tell you've sunk a lot of time and thought here.

Have you considered the in-channel rain guards? Those really do wonders for such a low price.

Thank you. Until I got started on this latest project (engine swap, etc.), I never really had a true vision for what I wanted to do or how I would get there. It's definitely come a long way since then.

Are you talking about the in-channel guards you put on the front windows? If so, they aren't really on my list of things to do. My dad used to have some on his truck, and I never really liked them much.
