Yeah, those are the ones i'm talking about. Honestly they don't really work that well, but that's fine because I got 'em for looks mostly.

Question. For your 5.0 swap, did you really have to buy any aftermarket parts to make it work for one reason or another or was it plug and play? That's the one thing that scares me for the 5.0 because it would be my luck I couldn't find any of those parts.

I'd love to ditch my 3.slow for something better; and I gotta make a decision. Still can't afford it but, I'd like to have my mind made up.

It's not really a true plug and play swap, but it doesn't require a ton of modification either. Research, research, research, then come up with a plan. The good news is that the swap has been done many times and documented pretty well. Most answers to your questions can be found on here and TRS.

Here are a couple of good links to get you started. There are also links to other pages within them.

Exhaust: check! Dropped it off this morning on the way to work and picked it up this afternoon. I LOVE the way it sounds. Haven't hit WOT with it yet, but the idle tone is great, good sound during acceleration, and is plenty loud from the outside without being window-shaking like it was when I had no muffler at all. It's extremely quiet in the cab too, even at highway speeds (also thanks to the sound deadener).

Full setup is Torque Monster headers into 3" pipe, 1 Thunderbolt high-flow cat for each side, Spintech Pro Street 6000 DI/DO muffler, and 4" MBRP tips tucked and angled behind the rear axle.

I took this video when I got home. I'll get a better one with some revving tomorrow.

And Shaun, the window tint is getting done Wednesday morning.

Oh my God that sounds heavenly. If you don't mind me asking, how much did that setup run you? Whatever it is, you certainly got some serious growl back there.

Including the headers, around $1600 or so, but the headers were half of that. I also have a stainless muffler and 3" pipe which added some extra cost.

If you do a 5.0 swap and don't get Torque Monster headers (or custom ones), you're really limiting your truck's potential. The stock exhaust manifolds on the 5.0 are poor at best. TMs are an absolute must if you're going to do any sort of upgrading to the engine.

Not bad, actually. I was expecting more than 1600. If I ever go through with a 5.0 swap, I'll definitely get some different headers. You might as well if you're going through the trouble of putting an entirely different engine in it along with the complications which come with it. Heh, would be sweet to find an expo with those headers already on it but the chances of that are slim to none I'd imagine.

Yeah, your chances of finding a used Ex with TMs are pretty low. It'd be like striking gold. Even used sets of TM headers by themselves don't last long once they come up for sale. I waited about 12 weeks to get mine once I placed the order.

In spite of all my efforts, the truck didn't make the trip to Florida after all. I went to get an alignment the morning we were supposed to leave, and the front suspension (ball joints, tie rods) was so bad that the guy said he wouldn't even bother trying to do the alignment. I knew that the time to replace some of the parts up front was approaching, but I didn't realize just how bad it was until I saw it on the lift with the wheels off.

They offered to do all of the work for me, but it was going to take 7 hours and $1000 So I decided to take the Fusion, ordered all the parts for under $500, and I'll do all of the work this weekend at my grandpa's shop. After this weekend I'll have all new UCAs and LCAs with ball joints, sway bar links, and inner and outer tie rod ends.
