I think they can, it's just going to take them working a lot harder and longer hours than they had to. I expected to be done by now when I first got everything to them.

Yeah, and I'm hoping it continues on this trend. I would've loved to do all this work myself, but I just don't have the resources to make it possible. I don't like depending on people to do things for me.

And to update something else, I left the intake plate alone for now because I wanted to make sure they had it when they needed it. I'll take it off and fix it up after everything is done. It's actually in awesome shape as is, I'd just rather it fit the scheme of the truck.

Possibly. Once I get SolidWorks on my work computer (which should be soon), I'm going to design one from scratch. I still have good contacts at LaTech that can hook me up with the machining on the Haas at school if I do the design. Or I could be lame and paint it lol

Right now? No. In the future? I can almost guarantee it. I came super close to picking up the S/C that was up for sale on here a couple months ago, but that would mean a ton of other upgrades to everything I just had built and pushing the schedule back even further. Not to mention I have a wedding to pay for this year. Just not the best time to do it.

Very nice build man. I'm always an instant fan when people take the time to make things look clean and appreciate taking their time on stuff. The engine looks awesome. We should have our done roughly the same time!

Thanks man! Since the motor/drivetrain swap is such a big build in itself, I knew it'd be the perfect time to take care of anything else that I might want to do. I want this to be the last time I strip my truck like this for awhile haha

I should find out for sure what I need to do with the driveshaft this week. I'll keep you posted in case you haven't got to yours by then.

I'll post up some update pics soon. I went to check on everything today. No, it's not going to be ready in time for "d-day," but good progress is being made and that's all I can ask for at this point. Barring major issues, I'd expect it to fire in a week or so. There are only 2 guys at the shop, but as of today there aren't any other cars there besides mine, and the guy that runs the place said he's not taking anything until I'm gone.

Very nice. Yeah I'd appreciate that. I'm already spending more than I should (of course) on a cam, springs, etc., so the driveshaft cost is an issue for me to deal with.

I hear you. I've learned that when going into a project like this, figure out what you'd like to spend, and then double it. That'll get you closer to what you'll actually spend lol

I'm a lot deeper into this than I thought I'd be when I first bought the Explorer, but it's mostly due to additional upgrades I decided to make along the way (seats, sound deadening, brakes, shocks, gauges, etc.). Some of it is all of the small things you easily overlook (plugs and wires, break in oil). I've been fortunate so far to have avoided any costly setbacks. Hopefully this beast is running soon!

The update pics I promised. Sorry for the poor quality, but they'll suffice for now.

The almost fully-assembled engine

The engine patiently waiting for its turn to enter the truck (the old rear end was on its way out at the time):

Thought I'd take a look through the engine bay from the bottom since this will be my last chance for awhile lol

Hopefully the next update includes a video!

Trust me, I know... I'm probably a good $15k more into my truck than I'd ever think I'd be lol. Of course, I have no plans on stopping!

Sweet! Progress! Can't wait to see and hear this thing run. Pretty much exactly what I want to do motor-wise when I get to that point. No point in pulling a perfectly good 4.0 right now tho.

Thanks guys! I'm soooo ready to be driving it!

While the truck was on the lift, I took some time to picture how I'd route the exhaust. I've been looking at a lot of videos too. Only problem is most 347s are in Mustangs so the tone is going to be much different than mine.

Here's what I'm thinking right now: Each pipe running thru 1 cat of its own, going into a dual in/dual out muffler, and exiting at an angle at each corner of the rear bumper. My top choice of muffler right now is the Spintech 5000 and running 3" pipes. Thoughts/suggestions???

I was thinking of the same type of exhaust setup pretty much, except I'll be doing either 2 High flow magna flow cats to a Flowmaster Super 40 dual in/out, or keep the Spintech from my Ranger, get another, and dump them at the back of the cab for true dual exhaust (no where to go further due to 4 link and cage work)

So you'd have 4 exhaust tips coming out at the back?

I was going to get some of the Magnaflow cats too since the only ones I have are for stock size pipes. I didn't know you had a Spintech. How do you like it? Which model do you have?

Lol yeah, just 2 tips.

Also forgot to mention I'm planning to run an H-pipe as well.

Yeah I have/had one for my supercharged 4.0. Sounded pretty mean actually. Here is a video of it when I first welded up my own exhaust setup last year. I was testing the supercharger, but you can hear the exhaust. Pretty throaty overall.

That sounds pretty good, but like you said, mine is going to sound totally different. I've read nothing but good reviews about the Spintechs. I guess I'll just have to wait and see how it turns out.
