Niiiiiice.

I probably missed it but what made you decide on the 24v?
I thought I remember the hp/tq numbers being lower than later 5.4s. More potential in the 24v I suppose? Came bolted to a better tranny?

32v has several advantages.

1 its Rare(which if you know me by now I like to be different)
2 it meets peak hp/tq at really low levels.
3 the hp/tq rating is much higher in stock form over the 2v and even 3v
4 comes with the 4r100 behind it (as you mentioned)
5 it is one of the largest v8s Ford had in that era/time frame.

Im sure I could go on. But I will mention its expensive!

oh me too! it wont be long and it will be in the ranger. we have just about everything.

need a power steering pump, starter and a few other little things.

then we will rebuild the transmission, mount the tcase, build exhaust, cooling and do the wiring.

24v, lol, it was early for me!

I guess I hadn't looked for a while at the 32v for hp/tq. I can understand doing something different for sure, and the trans is a big plus.

355 ft/tq and 315 hp if memory serves correctly. that is all at 2700 rpm

edit - 1999–2004 Lincoln Navigator, 4-valve DOHC, 300 hp (224 kW) and 355 lb·ft (481 N·m)

I thought so, a hair less tq.
2004–2008 Ford F-Series, 3-valve SOHC, 300*hp (224*kW) and 365*lb·ft (495*N·m)

although none of that will matter to you now. lol

The 3v makes just as much power (300 / 365 in the 04-08's and 320 / 390 on the 09+ trucks) as the 4v... but your right, the 3v makes it much higher in the RPM range.

Plus the 4v probably has more potential.

You dont happen to have bench flow numbers for the 2 heads do ya?

Did you do any head work to it?

You better get this thing back so you can start finishing up all the little things.

Mine started for the first time 2 weeks ago, but i still have a huge list of smaller things that i am trying to trudge through.

Hurry Up! Wellsville in June!

Yeah I spoke too soon on the 3v motors.

Nick may have the flow numbers for the heads, I do not.

June??? Holy crap I need to hurry up. I didnt know it was June this year. thanks for adding more pressure! haha. I really want to get i back so i can tweak everything in properly.

The heads were port and polished, shaved .015 to bump compression up, 3* valve job, some custom chamber work and a few other things.

Did you update your thread on yours? I havent looked for a while and I need to.

No, I havent updated in a while... not a ton to look at yet. Just some wiring and plumbing mostly. I will try and make some decent progress this weekend and post some pics/vid.

I think there will probably be 2 wellsville trips, one in june and one in the fall.

Either way, GET TO WORK!

I am itching to see yours run as well!

Well I need to get into at least one of those trips if not both! I enjoyed it last time.

Hey Zach, have you read this article on the 4r100?
http://www.fourwheeler.com/techartic...ion/index.html

I don't remember if you are doing much with the trans, but the bypass line apparently caused a lot of people problems with increased line pressure from tuners. I believe this is the reason I have heard people claiming that tuners killed their transmissions in super duty trucks a while back.
