well, it'll still be a swap, just a 2.3t swap inplace of the 2.5

You mentioned lowering the compression ratio, why, are you supercharging it ?

If so, are the pistons up to the task ?

What kind of compression are you looking for ?

Also, jus thinking and do not know but are there special pistons for supercharging that have better flame travel than OEM stuff ?

If not Supercharging what’s up with the lower compression ?

The t in the 2.3t stands for turbo. You must not have read the begining of the thread. I also explain that i'm using stock turbocoupe pistons and rods. THey are forged and good for about 450hp. They will keep up.
Shooting for a 8:1 or maybe a little higher compression ratio.
IDK what flame travel is, but this forged stuff is good enough. No need to spend $800 on new pistons and rods when these stockers can be had for cheap (mine was $40 at the u-pull it junkyard )

I didn’t read all of the post… good that it is a Turbo setup and yes the parts you have are good enough, nice.

Good Luck with it waiting to see it all turns out.

The 4.6 would have been nice but work to install.
My 95 2.3L (Non-T) was a good peppy engine for its size, kind of miss it when thinking about MPG.

Yeah, I profited 400 from it. Just couldn't pass up selling it. Plus, i realized how goddam expensive touching those mod motors are compared to a 2.3t. The 2.3 hardly needs any special tools to take it apart and rebuild, the mod motor on the other hand....

Probably be running the stock turbo that came off the svo's and early turbocoupe. Its a garrett T3. They are good for up to 300 or so rwhp which is what i want. Being all street (for the most part), i want a turbo that will spool up quickly. They seem to be the ticket!

just arrived home after driving my 94 2.3 regular cab xlt here.

all the way home i was wondering what it would be like to have a boost gauge and hear the turbo spool up on a back road straight stretch.

this is KILLIN me i am going to look on craigs list for a t-coupe

You don't even need to swap over the whole engine. Just to forged rods and pistons, then header and turbo and everything to support it. Surprisingly cheap really. Can't wait to get this project done.....

just wondering what kind of power will be had.

i have heard that the "ideal situation" for semi long life of an engine is 50-hp per cylinder.

what are you expecting out of the 2.3?

should easily be able to get a reliable 325-350. its all precautionary stuff tho, engine being freshended up... bearings rings ect. same with the head, but probly adding heavier springs, good clutch, strong trans, and an 8.8... should be pretty goood
