I got ya. A lot of the mounts don't require holes in the roof, just a couple behind the rubber door seal. Having the headliner and pillar trim out would just help with running wires.

Set it up like Will Smith did in "I Am Legend"

Found a You-Pull Yard about an hour away from me with like 16 explorers from 96-01. Hopefully gonna have some new seats and center console by tomorrow night!

Thank you, hoping to be rocking at least 35s by January too!

I've considered doing the double lift and going 35's, but I really don't feel like bothering with gear ratios. And now that I'm going 4x4, it's definitely not going to happen.

I gotcha. I'm 2wd and have an open diff, so I wanted a different carrier anyways

Dewey Nov 17, 2014 07:32 PM

Set up to get the diff regeared the week after ThanksGiving, which means the lifting process will begin shortly there afterwards. Also thinking of doing a Mustang Cobra brake swap. Its only like $500, not too bad. would bring my total investment in the 8.8 to like $1200 the time I figure the gears, carrier, and brake conversion, but IMO, money fairly well spent. Its not a Dana 60 by any means, but sufficient for now. Probably do the brakes before the tires get mounted up too. (just another project to add to the list!)

Got my 06+ Tails in the mail today.

06+ transformation process is nearly complete. just need to pop my corners apart to install some leds and get some more EDGE stickers made. (and cover my holes)

Looks good! Any plans to do the 06+ bumper too? I've got one tucked away for my truck, but it needs to be repainted to match my truck.

Like the front bumper with the round headlights? I thought about finding one, but I personally like the style of the square ones I have. Only people versed in the Ranger world will be able to tell that its not 06+ Unless I stumble across one for next to nothing, I'll keep what I have.

Well 06-07 bumpers had square fogs too. The 08-11 bumpers had round fogs. I hear you on the price though. Mine was $100, so I couldn't pass it up, even if it is gloss black. lol.

Dewey Nov 19, 2014 06:21 PM

see, I knew somewhere along there they switched to rounds. but hey, who's to know if mine wasn't already an 07? Don't ask any questions and I'll tell you no lies.

No judging here, I robbed my truck of it's identity years ago. :scool:

I feel like by the time I'm "done" I'll have an 05,06,07,08,09,10,11 "Rangesplorer"

As of a few weeks ago I had an OHC, Seats, and a Full Length Console from an Explorer. But I wasn't feeling the "ExpoRanger" thing, so I swapped the Full Length out for a Shorty. Never getting rid of my OHC and seats though, the seats are amazing compared to the stock seats my truck came with.

I'm doing the full length console so I can have some switches tied in. The way my back is, I have a lumbar pillow that I have to use to even drive across town. Hopefully I'll get a set of heated, power seats when I go to the yard again this Saturday. Maybe I won't get rained out this time.

Mine came from an 01 Expo Sport. They aren't heated, but they do have power tracks that I've never hooked up and manual lumbar. Best part is that they are the dark gray so they match my interior. Only paid $40 for the pair.

True, you're stick so you would need the shorty console. I'm looking $65 a piece from a u pull. I want black, but I will cover them until I get them reupholstered since I know they didn't have anything but gray/tan

I ran the Explorer Full Length with the manual. Didn't like the way it looked though so I went back to a shorty console. But I'm glad I did because now I don't have to modify the full length console for the T-Case shifter.

Full length with the shifter would look kinda funky

I didn't like the thought of having a boot covering the entire shift lever, so I ran without a boot the whole time. That made it look even worse.

That's probably why I've always seen a manual with a shorty console

Twin sticks look better with a shorty console. :)
